This weekend I'm setting up a website for an academic event. I'd like the homepage of the site to have large, clickable progress bars that display the number of posts for each of the subpages (News & Announcements, Blog, Events, etc.). As more posts are added to each of the subpages (posts would likely be sorted and displayed by category and tag), its respective progress bar takes up more screen real estate and the tally count listed on/near it increases. Basically, I want the homepage to look like a giant, dynamic bar chart. Is there a freeware (or cheap) template, widget or piece of code that allows me to do this?

Calling all Wordpress specialists (and I know there are many!). I have a small blog which is a source of business for me and I want my readers to have the option of getting a printer friendly version of each post in the form of a PDF. I need your experience on which plugin may work best for me.

I'm a designer and usually people do programming for me. I'm trying to teach myself how to customize Word Press themes all by myself though... and I thought I was doing pretty well. But then I had people
look at it in other browsers. Yuck.

What's the right software to maintain and display a calendar of relatively infrequent future events, as well as blog-like news postings? I maintain a website for specialists in my field of mathematics, and one section consists of announcements for upcoming and recent conferences. Another is for news announcements: a basic blog-style list of entries. Both are currently run by our 7-year-old Movable Type installation, in combination with a good bit of chewing gum and baling twine. I'd like to redesign the whole schmear, including the back end. Is wordpress (plus more gum and twine) the right solution? Is there some other system that makes more sense?

Is there a way I can integrate graphic-type web content into a Wordpress page/post? I'm not talking about just adding an image to a post/page, I'm looking to add photo/graphic content with clickable links similar to something like
this. In other words, something similar to what you could do with a normal web page.
I know you can add HTML to Wordpress posts/pages, but I'm not sure I understand how to design something in Photoshop/Dreamweaver and then translate that over to Wordpress.
I'm using Wordpress 2.5.1. I know Photoshop and I also have a copy of Dreamweaver at my disposal if needed.
Bonus to anyone that can tell me how to make the resulting graphic page SEO friendly.
Thanks!

Is there any good solution for multi-url blog software? I've got a bunch of domains, and I want to run different blogs on each of them, but I don't want to have to install, say, a separate copy of Wordpress for each of them (and then have to go update all of them individually when there's an update). They're all located on the same physical server (linux/Apache).
Any ideas?
