Creating a form template for colleagues to use at work that needs to meet the following criteria:
1. Allow text fields and drop-down selection boxes.
2. Allow users to add additional text in should they see fit (i.e. doesn't disallow all input outside of form fields).
3. Will allow rows (the form will be arranged like a table) to be duplicated/copied & pasted, including the form fields contained within those rows.
4. Is formatted nicely enough to be passed along to a client and read clearly.
5. Is openable/usable by your average user who doesn't have access to super expensive/specialized software. [more inside]

I have a macro that takes an un-styled document, and tries to put text into the right styles based on what its formatting is.
But, if the document already has some scheme of styles, the macro doesn't work very well.
So, I would like to transform a Word document into an un-styled version of itself-- but one that retains ALL of the original formatting (italics, small caps, font size, spacing).
What would be the most correct way to do this?
I have Word 2003 (which the macro needs) and 2007, as well as Word 2008 for Mac.
Also-- HTML doesn't work, as it doesn't retain small caps.

Looking for some recommendations for enterprise-level (or so) CMS that plays well with Word. A large client list is looking to be able to use a CMS to make website posts (similar to blogging), but they must be able to copy and paste directly from a Word file into the tool, without going to Notepad. Who out there allows that?

Printing Letters for a Sign: I have been asked to print up letters on paper for a church sign. The letters need to be 3" tall and 1 1/2" wide with 1/2" between each letter. Can I do this in Word (and how?) or is there a program (free) that I can download to do this?

Is there a way to cut'n'paste charts from Excel into Word, without generating huge Word files? I've tried varieties of paste, 'paste special,' and so on, and I can't figure out why an Excel file of charts that's several hundred KB, always turns into a Word file that's at least several MB. I guess I'm missing something obvious, but have no idea what it is.

Bah! I'm working on a Word doc and this program is driving me just batty. It's too clever by half all over the place -- wanting to add hyperlinks, format this way and that-- all kinds of stupidity that are keeping me from controlling the layout the way I want. Any suggestions for a nice, simple word processing program that will just give me the basics of font and tab control and without all of these M$ bloaty gewgaws that get in my way? Stop me before I fire up Illustrator!

How do they create book indexes? I have a friend who's a grad student, and she needs to create an index for her hundred page scientific thesis. Is there any easy way to do it in MS Word, or another software product -- something that a non-geek could churn and burn with in a couple of hours?
