Vacation Destination!

Topical Resortfilter! We're planning a vacation for sometime in 2010, and I have in my mind's eye the image of a every particular kind of resort in a tropical paradise. You've probably seen it before.... There is a long dock that protrudes far out into a calm, clear sea... and there are, well, these bungalows, I guess, would be the best word - these wonderful thatch roof looking abodes that sit out in the water on stilts or something and there's even, I think, a place where the floor is open so you can look down into the water, and it's private and beautiful and awesome.

I have seen places like this before. In advertisements. In forwards from friends that say things like, "Wouldn't you rather be here than at your crappy job?" Ha!

Well, I'm not sure I could afford it, but I think they exist, and I just don't know the Google terminology to even try to search for them. So lend a hand! Do you know of a resort like this? Does it have a website?

Whats up with Boingboing.net?

Whats up with Boingboing? I figure there's a lot of intersection between MeFites and boingboing. I'm pretty sure Cory Doctorow is a MeFite as well. Boingboing isn't loading for me and when I ping it no packets are returned.

Boingboing still features very prominently on Federated Media's main page so I doubt they've taken it offline. I need my daily fix of the most wonderful things on the web and Metafilter just isn't enough so can someone please either tell me when boingboing will be back up or share wonderful things?

What are the best cupcakes you've ever ever had? How can I make them? I'm looking to bake the best, most delicious, wonderful cupcakes ever. Like, cupcakes that would win awards. So please, share with me your tips, tricks, and recipes, and maybe i'll send you a few. okay, probably not really.
also, bonus points for a really really good cream cheese frosting.

The Weird and Wonderful World of Chili

What sort of weird and wonderful stuff have people made with chili? I'm helping a friend who's writing a book about anything to do with chili peppers. Right now we're trying to look for:

a) Medicinal remedies that involve chili (whether old-wives-taleish or more medically sound)
b) Tech innovations with chili
c) Other weird and wonderful uses of chili

So far we have found the use of chili as barnacle prevention, and chili facewash (apparently it's a good anti-acne agent) but nothing much else. She's trying to avoid too many cookbook-style recipes and wants more unusual uses.

My search-Fu is not that strong now.
