So, this is one of those router questions. I'm having a problem with wireless devices not being able to talk with one another. [more inside]
I recently set up a docking station for my laptop on a desk in my room. The only problem is that this seems to have really spotty WiFi coverage. Sometimes it's fine, sometimes it lags to hell when trying to load even something mostly text-based like Metafilter. Streaming is often impossible. I'm considering buying a range extender for my network - what should I keep in mind? [more inside]

I need to find a wireless connected scale to measure objects, none of them very heavy. The scale needs to have an API with which to retrieve the weight readings. For various reasons, including system compatibility and short timescales, I'd prefer to use the Fitbit Aria if at all possible. However, it looks like the minimum weight for accurate readings is 9kg. Can anyone tell me anything about how accurate the Fitbit Aria is *in practice* for weighing items lighter than this?

We have an old D-link DIR-655 wireless router that has become kind of flakey lately (dropping connectivity fairly often) and, after reading a few other Asks on routers, I think we probably just need a new one. Any recent experience with brands to choose or avoid? We use wintel laptops and apple phones/tablets in case that matters. [more inside]

A few days ago I got high-speed internet from Comcast. When I placed the order, I was told I needed to upgrade my router and wireless to new models, specifically a TP-Link Wireless N300 and the Motorola SB6121 Surfboard modem. My internet speed is lower than ever. [more inside]
Devices share bandwidth on a network. WiFi networks compete for bandwidth with each other. Is it better from a user/performance perspective to have multiple networks and spread the devices out among them, or a single network with all devices using it? [more inside]
So i have a bit of a weird one here. I'm aware that there are speakers that can pair to eachother so you can use two as a stereo sound pair, or just two at once(E.G. jambox mini, beats pill XL). What i'm looking for though, is sort of the reverse. [more inside]

So my parents, through some amusing twist of fate, ended up renting two apartments on different floors of the same building. One apartment is on the 1st floor, and one is on the 4th. They're almost perfectly parallel with each other vertically. Both of them and myself agree it would be stupid to pay for two internet connections. What do? [more inside]

I actually have a FreedomPop Wifi hotspot, but it doesn't work in some places that I'd like it to.. so recently, I've heard about Karma, which sounds very similar, but when I check the Karma wireless coverage maps it seems to cover the areas I need it to... but it looks like FreedomPop and Karma both use Sprint's network? However, Sprint has a few different networks, and I think its Clearwire might not be used by my FreedomPop device? Do I have this right? Anyone with better knowledge of Sprint's MVNOs?
One of my computers connects to the Internet just fine using the wireless router but the other computer only intermittently connects with more than 1 or 2 mbps. This computer connects normally when I connect using an ethernet cable. [more inside]
I need to (with some urgency) select a wireless barcode scanner that our inventory guys can use to grab codes from a pallet of worth of small boxes. It's got to operate without a constant USB connection, and preferably store the scanned codes locally on the scanner for later transfer to a laptop (USB for that later transfer is fine). Has anyone got similar devices working right now that they're happy with/happy to recommend? I'm in Canada, so bonus points if Newegg or similar sells it up here.
Ubuntu 12.04 is suddenly unable to connect via two different routers. When the (correct) passwords are entered, it attempts to connect, but then brings up the pwd entry form again. This is a new problem, as of last Mon. [more inside]
I have a MacBook running OS X 10.6.8 and a Brother HL-2270DW printer. This morning I had to reset my entire system using Time Machine; everything else is up and running, but the printer doesn't work. I've tried reinstalling it with the printer setup disc, but the laptop won't detect our wireless connection when I get to that step (it suggests disabling my personal firewall, but I don't have one set up.), and the laptop won't let me add any printers in System Preferences. Any suggestions would be gratefully appreciated, because I've spent all afternoon trying to figure this out.
I just moved into a large house where my Netgear router does not provide a strong wireless signal to the whole house. Bridging a Cisco router thru a Verizon FiOS Actiontec router to improve WiFi speed: worth the trouble and, if so, how?
My FiOS speed is a blazing 75Mb/s thru a wire but only about 30-35Mb/s wireless. Verizon tells me that this is all I can expect through their Actiontec modem/router. Can I improve this WiFi speed by bridging my Cisco EA4500 thru the FiOS router? If so, can anyone provide me with a step-by-step way to re-configure the FiOS router to allow for the bridge? All of the resources I can find on-line are confusing and don't cover my specific situation. All help is appreciated. Thanks in advance!
