What are your favorite fictional holidays? This winter, my partner and I want to celebrate as many Christmas-like made-up holidays as possible. Our list includes Hogswatch (Discworld), Winter Veil (World of Warcraft), Crimbo (from Kingdom of Loathing), Festivus (which is increasingly less fictional), Life Day (from the Star Wars Christmas Special), and the Ice Festival (from Maria V. Snyder's fantasy books). Are there any more that we can add to our calendar?

Long time, first time. Looking for travel ideas: want to take the kid (23) for a treat-holiday over Christmas break. Specs include a short-ish flight out of NY, cold weather, shopping and museums, coffee and cocktails, not too terribly expensive, two female travelers, maybe 5 days. [more inside]

Recipefilter - It's winter(ish) time in my town, and I love seasonal flavored drinks, but I want to make my own (from scratch would be fun). Please recommend hot cocoa / chocolate recipes, coffee flavorings and the like.

In previous years I've made a lot of cookies
to give away to friends and family around the holidays. This year I'd like to do something a little different, but still make it a gift of food. [more inside]
