Give me red wine advice in KY?

Need help finding a good red wine. Tricky part - I need to purchase it online and have it shipped in Kentucky. My husband loves red wine, I only know how to drink it.
He is currently deployed overseas and will be coming home for a 2 week R&R in a couple months. I have booked us into a very romantic cabin for the first few days that he is home, and I'd like to get atleast one or two nice bottles of red wine as a suprise for him.
Here's the tricky part. I have a small child I'm raising alone right now, and it's hard for me to get out and go shopping. I also know nothing about wine, and I'm afraid I'll be taken for a sucker if I go into a winery and ask for a recommendation. I do most of my shopping online anyways.
So I need a red wine I can buy and have shipped to me in Kentucky. We don't have money to throw around, but because it's such a special occasion I'm flexible on the cost, nothing outrageous though. Can anyone help?

Wineries For Dummies

Seeking info on touring California wineries My dad's going to be flying out to visit me in California around the 4th of July and we had talked about visiting some wineries, which neither of us has ever done. What do we need to know? Is that time of year well suited to touring wineries? Are there any particular places we should see?

I live in LA, so it may be easier to stick to closer wineries around Santa Barbara, etc., but if it's worth the trip up to Napa that's not out of the question.

Any info/suggestions/other things to check out in the area would be appreciated. Thanks!

Winery suggestion for Wilamette Valley?

Can anyone recommend a couple of wineries in the Wilamette Valley region by Portland? My SO and I will be there this coming weekend, and would like to know which ones we should stop at. We will have a car, and we're staying at McMenamin's Hotel Oregon Saturday and Sunday night (June 14th & 15th). We're driving from Portland Saturday morning and returning to Portland for a few days Monday morning. We're open to what's available, since we've never been in this region.

Best Finger Lakes wineries?

Looking for wine tasting recommendations in the Finger Lakes region of New York. I'll be spending a long day up there in late May and would like recommendations for wineries worth visiting. Preferences are for dark and dirty reds, but I like a good riesling, too. I know very little about the area and the wine, so please suggest away!

Is December too late to do a North California winery tour?

I'm considering taking a 4-day weekend trip out to California's North Coast to do some winery-hopping and hiking. Is this a mistake? My wife has vacation time the first couple weekends of December. Is it going to be too cold? Are the wineries even open this time of year?

Help us find the best wine Willamette has to offer...

Can you recommend outstanding wineries in or around Willamette Valley, Oregon? My boyfriend and I will be roadtripping through the Pacific Northwest in early August and are looking for any stand-out local wineries along the way. We were hoping for recommendations on more of the non-touristy-tour-type establishments, but more of the smaller-scale, low-key variety. We're not limited to certain varietals, and would just like to enjoy the best that Oregon and the Willamette Valley has to offer.

Google searches have come up with a list 200+ long with no extended descriptions or reviews, thus the question here.

Any suggestions or recommendations for Winery tasting / tours in the Niagara region of Ontario? Logistics appreciated..... Where, when, any reservations or costs involved. Is there are some that serve snacks as well? I am just trying to plan a Sunday afternoon.

Some small unique ones or even large ones would be great!

Looking for New York State Wine Tasting Suggestions After having a fantastic time at a winery in Napa Valley on vacation a few weeks ago (If you are ever there - I highly suggest the Rubicon Estate Winery) Some friends and I would like a similar experience on the East Side of the Country.

We live in New York City and are looking for wineries that have tastings. We want to make a day trip of it, so I guess the closer to the city the better.

Any wineries that you loved? Any to avoid like the plague?

We don't mind paying for tastings and we would prefer something not too crowded with a knowledgable staff.

If time of year is important - we are thinking of making our first trip in late September / Early October.

Thanks.

New York State Wineries

Can anyone recommend a particular New York State winery? I'm sorting through them all now, and there are so many! I would prefer one with a bed and breakfast accomodation either on site (do they do that?) or quite nearby. Attractions nearby would preferrably also lean towards nature or museums rather than shopping.
