Computer froze up, only letting me access the recovery manager. Burned 6 recovery disks, then reset to original factory settings. Reinstalled the recovery disks, the program said it was successful, but the files are nowhere to be found. What next?

My Windows 7 computer no longer turns off properly. If I shut the screen, it no longer sleeps or hibernates, it just freezes. If I go through the start menu to hibernate, it will do so, but the computer is still on -- the power and the wifi lights stay on, it's still running and using battery. This also happens if I go through the start menu to turn off the computer. If I hold on the power key, it will then turn off and restart or resume from hibernation normally when I turn it back on.

How can I set up a Windows 7 PC to be clean and stay clean? I don't want file bits and temporary files to clog it up, I don't want a million image files the size of a dot. I don't want this computer to run like molasses after a few years of web browsing and use. What is the best way to do that?

Recently, my computer has decided to be very particular about what it will allow to connect to the internet. Some programs, like uTorrent and Filezilla, can connect fine and have no problems. But things like self-updaters and Flash-based uploading cannot connect. The same thing happens on two different internet connections on two different wireless networks whose configurations have not been changed since before this started (I do not have a wired network to test). I have not made any significant changes to my computer since before this started. I'm running Windows 7 x64 Ultimate. What could be causing the problem? How can I fix it? What caused the problem in the first place?

Is my 3+ year old HP Desktop worth fixing? I think it needs a new hard drive, and I plan on replacing OS. Power Supply was replaced 2 years ago, Motherboard replaced 1 year ago, both on extended warranty.

I have a piece of software that works on Windows 7, 32-bit, but not on x64 versions. Is it possible to get it working on my computer, perhaps in a VM? I also have the linux version of the software.

What could possibly be going on with my new (to me) Windows 7 desktop? Windows seemingly installs fine, then eventually (most recently after the first reboot), it hangs at a black screen. More details inside...

ComputerBuyingFilter: My beloved iBook is on his last legs. I haven't owned a Windows computer in nearly 7 years, but I'm considering buying one as my next computer. What would you tell a longtime Mac user who's considering going Windows?

I am trying to get the Adobe CS3 design premium suite working on my Windows 7, 64-bit gaming computer, which meets and exceed CS3's minimum specs. The install went fine, and I know the disks are good as they worked on my old (dead) XP computer. Most of the programs (Bridge, Flash, etc.) will open a process, but not actually open anything on the screen. Photoshop will open, but all that appears is the gray background, and the menu bar. It hangs immediately. It won't even open the Photoshop "loading..." splash/credits screen. How can I get these programs running? (Yes, I tried googling it, and no, it isn't a TWAIN issue).

OK, I've almost given up. I try to connect my HP G60 laptop (Windows 7) to my Olevia (I know) HDTV and the TV screen wants to be magenta (pink!). Not totally pink, just the colored bits. The white parts stay white. I'm using a 6-foot HDMI cable. I have had a proper picture in the past, but I cannot for the life of me figure out a stable combination of settings.
Anybody else experience that? Any solution to the pinkness?
