I'm a late adaptor. After much happy gaming in Windows XP (via Boot Camp on my Mac), I am finally getting around to Vista-only games like Assassin's Creed III. So it's time to take the plunge and buy a copy of Vista on eBay. But which version? 64-bit or 32-bit? Service pack 1, 2, or 3? Starter, basic, or ultimate? Home or business? As somebody who isn't well-versed in Windows to begin with, I'm finding the choice a little overwhelming. I will be using Windows exclusively for gaming and don't care about any other features. Also, note that Windows Vista is the latest Windows my 2006 Mac Pro will support, so unfortunately "Skip straight to Windows 7 or 8" isn't an option. [more inside]

My sister needs to make YouTube videos for her business. The camera outputs MP4 files. Needs the ability to edit and add beginning and ending slides. Output should be uploadable to YouTube. Picasa does everything thing I want in a light photo editor (cropping, highlight and shadow correction, roation (90 degree and free)) and browser except it does not support multiple computers using the same meta data. My fricken database has been corrupted again (apparently it doesn't handle 200K+ photos very well either) so I'm looking for an alternative that does support syncing between multiple computers and network storage. I would like to make a custom boot disc that is very simple to the user. All it would do is restore an image from 6 DVDs to a hard drive. The only options I would like the user to see is: 1) format drive 2) restore drive 3) exit I would like to create this menu and all sub menus that I see fit. I have seen UBCD but it is too complicated for the people I know. I would like to use Driveimage XML and have it read the discs one at a time to restore the drive. Any suggestions?

Windows Vista has taken me to a new, interesting level of hell. For some reason, starting about a week ago, anything I select with the mouse -- text, even files -- automatically gets copied to the clipboard. If I select any word in this paragraph, for instance, that word will go to the clipboard and overwrite whatever I had there before. It's becoming a real headache. I can't find anything in Control Panel that deals with this feature, and I'm not finding anything on Google. How on earth do I turn this off? Thanks in advance. :)

What are the best resources for computer novices? I often find myself in the position of helping friends and family figure out how to operate their computers (typically Windows XP or Vista, but OS X tips are welcome too.)
