Is there a way to keep ratings and playcounts in iTunes synced across different computers that works in Windows? I've found a Mac-only solution (echodio) but there doesn't seem to be an equivalent option for Windows.

Is it possible to edit the iTunes "Date Added" field?
I am trying to relocate all of the music in my iTunes library from one computer to another and have had no luck keeping the "date added" field in tact. I am willing to manually edit the date added field for every album to match my old database. Is there an easier way to do this other than to constantly reset my system clock? I have over 1100 albums!

Help me solve an iTunes problem I hope I won't have. My poor little Dell has been working hard all day, processing a .M4V file using the "Convert Selection for iPod" feature in iTunes. After 12 hours it's about 75 percent done, but it's raining here. Our power has a bad habit of going out during storms, and I'll be really depressed if I lose this in-process file if/when the computer reboots. [more inside]

I'm thinking of nuking my hard drive and reinstalling Windows XP. This means iTunes, which sits on my C Drive, will obviously be wiped and reinstalled. If I do this, will I lose all the star ratings and other individual settings I have for my mp3s (which are stored on another partition that I won't be wiping)? If so, is there some file in the iTunes directory or somwhere else that I could back up and add to my new iTunes installation so I don't have to individually rate every mp3 I have all over again?

In iTunes, why do songs I uncheck not play during shuffled playback? I just want to uncheck songs I don't want on the iPod and let 'em play normally in the library. It's easier than making a playlist for the iPod each time I add new albums. Alternatively, how do you manage your library when it exceeds the size of your iPod?

BEST. ASKMETAFILTER REPONSE. EVER.
On March 1st, I posted a question about how to have "recently playing in iTunes" data show up on your website if you use Windows (solutions already exist for Mac users). I got a lot of interesting answers, and I used one suggested app, Bloglines, for a few days before it inexplicably stopped working. But then MeFite krunk was so inspired by my question that he coded an entire freakin' app to mine the iTunes XML file and upload a list of the latest songs you've played to your webserver. Ladies and gentlemen, meet IndieRock, probably the first piece of software inspired by AskMetaFilter and a damn fine way to show off your listening habits to the world. Now that's an answer! How can I add a "what's playing in iTunes lately" widget to my blog...if I'm a Windows user? There's Kung-Tunes, but it requires using OSX and AppleScript, and our own Fearless Leader has a Trackback-based solution, but it requires using WinAmp with the DoSomething plugin. iTunes stores its info in an XML file in the Windows version (presumably the Mac version too?), so it should be just a matter of getting the relevant info. out of the file and online in some method, whether by FTP or passed as values in a URL or whatever. Bonus points if the solution can somehow be combined with Adam Kalsey's MTAmazon plugin for Movable Type to pull album art, release date, and other details about the embarassing stuff I listen to.
