How can I move application data to another drive? [more inside]

A string of bad assumptions. I installed a slave drive. I assumed it was OK to move entire directories of data to the new drive. I assumed that windows XP would be kind enough to update any and all registry entries referring to these files. I assumed that this would mean I could open WinAmp (for example) and the library would still point to the right files. I assumed wrong. I need a free application to fix this for me. Do you know of any?

How do I remove things from the system tray on my computer (running XP)? This seems like it should not be so complicated, but my searching suggests I have to edit the registry to do that. I don't even really know what that means, but just looking at the registry intimidates me. Specifically, if I can't get the computer to stop telling me when a wireless connection is or is not available, I may just go insane.

Stupid annoying WinXP question. I installed an older program I use for data analysis in my lab. Every time I click the start menu it shows up as a newly installed program, despite the fact that I've used it quite a bit. I want it to go away and show up as an old program, not highlighted like a new one. The only help I can find using my formidable Google-Fu is "Turn off new program notification". Well, I don't want to do that; I like to know if something new has been added to my machine. Anyone know how XP marks programs as newly installed, or highlighted, and how to turn this off on an individual entry basis rather than across the board?
