All sorts of WiFi connectivity issues. I think it's my router.

After 4 months of smooth sailing, my WiFi has started acting up and (first temperamental page loading; then lock icon disappears when connecting to my secure network; now work computer won't connect at all). Is it my ISP, router, computer, or something else? [more inside]

Mini displayport stops 802.11g from working? how? why?

Mini displayport to DVI adapter stops 802.11g from working? What?! We have a Macbook5,1 which is plugged into a 21" Dell LCD using the Monoprice mini displayport to DVI adapter. When the displayport is unplugged wireless works perfectly. When it's plugged in, the wireless NIC remains associated to the WAP but there is instant 100% packet loss. [more inside]

Internet access for the Australian traveler...

I'm an American internet addict traveling around Australia for a year with my laptop. Wifi access at hostels is often a big ripoff. How to stay connected without breaking the bank? Are Cell Towers/Wifi Harmless?

So cell towers are being installed next to a school that's near mine. Parents there are concerned about this, and also about the presence of wifi networks in schools. They cite research promulgated by a Magda Havas. I know hers is a minority viewpoint- but is it fairly described as 'crackpot'? Do parents have legitimate concerns over these issues?

Help me with a bit of passive home defence

Looking for a GSM alarm system for my house. I don't live in the States, so the answer should ideally be non-US specific. I was wondering about the Panasonic BL-C131A, but that needs presumably a decent amount of light and a working internet connection to alert me of break-ins. And without push email, fifteen minutes could pass before I get the alert. It's not really ideal, I don't think... [more inside]

iPhone app limitation by Apple?

I'm wondering if there are Apple-imposed limitations that would prevent this no-brainer iPhone app from being created. I'd love to be able to go to one place on my iPhone to turn off/on all the power-sucking tidbits: WiFi, Bluetooth, 3G, etc. As it is now, you have to drill down through all parts of the interface to access that stuff. Does Apple allow an app to access the WiFi on/off function, for instance? [more inside]
