Hi I'm considering remote working from Patmos or another Greek Island for a month or so either in spring or late summer. I hear from Negroponte's initiative the island has free wifi -- what's coverage like? Does anyone else know of a sweet spot of affordable + great internet connectivity in Greece? Free isn't necessary; reasonable is.
If so, recommendations for sites offering short term apartment rentals in your recommended area would be most awesome! Let's say, 4-6 weeks.

Can I use a third party wireless adapter for an XBOX360?
I've long been frustrated by not having wireless on my xbox. I almost never want to be online with the thing, but when I do, I'd rather not drag a cable through the house.
Now I've got a
radio labs wireless adapter/antenna booster. I was just looking at the official 360 adapter, and am struck that they're probably
very similar.
Can I use my third part adapter, or is the 360 software so picky that it's not going to work? Thoughts? I'd rather not pay for this crap, Microsoft has enough of my filthy lucre already.

I'm stumped by what on the face of it should be a pretty simple problem with a ADSL router (Thomson ST585 v6.) The connection is flawless when I plug into the router with an ethernet cable, but a wifi connection will drop out if I move further than a metre away from the router. This is true regardless of where I place the router in the house. I'm thinking a physical fault in the device. Anyone have a second guess?

But using the Bluetooth keyboard disables the wifi. In fact, it eliminates the wifi from even being listed in the list of available networks? What gives?

my two year-old macbook pro recently got a new cousin: a new mbp. both are running 10.6.4. my old mbp never had any problems establishing a wifi connection to my dsl modem, which is protected using wpa2. my new mbp sometimes can't connect via wifi/airport to said dsl modem. I usually get "connection timeout" errors displayed if I manually select the network. this is at the same time as my old mbp sitting right next to it is connected.

When I start a wifi session (at a coffee shop for instance), the bubble will say "additional login may be required" which, when I open a web page, is just an "I accept" disclaimer. BUT, when I have to turn off the computer (reboot for windows update, go to the bathroom, etc) and then try to re-establish contact, it won't work. I can't get connected and I can't get the login screen. I've tried everything I can think of to get it to work but it just seems like I have to come back the next day.
Any tricks to get me back on?
