How can we amplify the wireless internet signal in our concrete apt? [more inside]
I'm planning my first (and hopefully not last) international vacation and I'd like to get a smartphone for traveling that can be used on a prepaid basis for both voice and data. When not traveling it will not be used as a phone, although I'd still like it to perform double duty as a mp3/move player at home. Home is the united states and travel will be to Iceland (and beyond). [more inside]
I want to get a pre-paid android phone asap (for a trip), but I also want to be able to use it at home and my house is at the bottom of a hill and has no to poor coverage. I'm thinking that wi-fi calling may be a solution. [more inside]

My dumbphone died, so it's time to start from a clean slate and get a smartphone. WiFi tethering is a must-have; do I want an Android phone or an iPhone? (USA) [more inside]
Probably a stupid Droid question: My Motorola Atrix will connect to open (unsecured) WiFi networks, but I am unable to load web pages. Can't even perform a simple Google search. There must be an option somewhere that I can't locate. Any ideas? [more inside]
Time to get a new smartphone, and I'll have a data contract for the first time. I'm a power user of computers, who carries 2k+ contacts and appointments around, and occasionally programs my own apps (what we oldtimers used to call "programs"). I'm really attracted to the dual screen of the Kyocero Echo, but it's 3G-only. I don't intend to tether/hotspot my phone. Will I miss the 4G, a/o "limitless" data plans?
Is it possible to turn an original Motorola Droid into a mobile wireless hotspot by rooting it? If so, what's the easiest way to do that? [more inside]
I have a Samsung Captivate smartphone with a rate plan and data plan. If I were to cancel my AT&T contract (and pay the required fee, of course), could the phone continue to be used to access the Web via Wi-Fi to sync my Google calendar/contacts/e-mail, surf the Web, and run Web-enabled apps? Would I lose anything else besides telephone and 3G data capabilities?
