Laptop not connecting to WiFi in only one location?

My laptop connects to every wireless WiFi signal I ask it to, except for one in a single particular office, where I do some volunteer work. The signal is strong, everyone else's laptops connect, but mine doesn't. Or sometimes it does, and then gets kicked off after just a few minutes. Is there a way to troubleshoot this? Why might this be happening in only this one location, with only this one signal? It's a mystery to me.

I am looking for a signal booster that will play nicely on my laptop which has Vista.

I am looking for a signal booster that will play nicely on my laptop which has Vista. People recommended EnGenius USB Device but from what I gathered on Amazon, it does not work past XP. I basically need something that I can take with my on the go. Intel GMA 4500MHD / Intel Wi-Fi / 10/100 Eth is what came with my laptop. Is there a signal booster compatible with Vista?

WiFi behavior question.

We have a wireless LAN with rogue detection. The rougue detection picks up some laptops as rogue access points. It looks like the laptops are looking for the last access point connection they had. We see standard SSIDs like "linksys" and "Free Public WiFi". Why would the laptops be broadcasting the SSID of the previous access point it was connected to?

Restrictions on using laptop in coffee shop or library?

Hello, I was wondering what are the standard rules for taking a laptop to a coffee shop or library. My laptop battery only lasts about 45 minutes, so do they allow you to plug in? And also, what are the normal costs of wifi access, if any? Thank you.

TV on a lap through router?

I want to watch TV on my laptop via wifi. Does anyone know how I can do this? For example, Toshiba's new Qosmio laptops come with a 'Wifi TV Router'. Does anyone else make a WiFi TV router? Or, alternatively, I have another computer with a TV card in it. What software could I install to stream the live TV signal from my server? I know there are streaming video products, but I don't know if any of them can also handle changing channels on a live TV stream. Any helpful suggestions appreciated. Thanks! [more inside]
