We're looking at moving into a shared office building with a couple of other companies, in total about 40 people plus a small specialized school with another 50 students or so. This is a very nice opportunity, and I've been tasked with figuring out the shared network and related (phone, access control) infrastructure. I have a pretty good idea of what to get, but I'm not as up to date on options as I used to be, and I might be missing stuff. Help me with suggestions for good, economical equipment options. Is there such a thing as a wifi cordless phone that works with a landline? [more inside]
Seriously considering buying Virgin Mobile LG Optimus V (android 2.2) phone tomorrow, would/will be my first foray into any phone even beginning to resemble smart. My main question: how difficult is this phone to set up to use Google Voice telephone number over wi-fi, calls in-bound and out. [more inside]
I often work during the day in libraries or coffee shops with wifi but I'm too cheap to buy a cell phone. I have a laptop and a recent ipod touch. What are some clever ways I can contact my wife at home when I have something time-sensitive I need to share? [more inside]
Free calls over WiFi on a Droid? [more inside]
Can anyone recommend a cheap smartphone that can make Skype calls over Wi-Fi? [more inside]
Hanging up on our traditional phone service... can I switch to VOIP and continue to use it once my metro area activates city-wide wifi? Or is there another solution? [more inside]
Experience with Vonage or any VOIP in Toronto? I know it's been asked before but figure the technology may have improved. Also, what about some of their other products?
SOHOFilter: I've recently got a second (VoIP) line into my home office and I'd like to be able to use both that line and my landline throughout the apartment. So, I am guessing I need a two-line cordless phone; trouble is I can't find one that is not 2.4GHz (bad for WiFi). A nice DECT phone would be preferrable, but I'd live w/ something plainer. Any pointers? Or is there a way to merge the two lines somehow and only use one phone set with both of them?
