Torchwood/Doctor Who Viewing Order

Just received my Torchwood:Children of Earth DVD! I also have sitting here the first season set of Dr. Who (the first "modern" season...with bigger budget than the classic show). While I realize TCOE is considered fairly stand-alone, would it be best if I watch the Dr. Who stuff first? And, for that matter, since I'm probably going to watch the other Torchwoods eventually, even though I know they're not supposed to be as good, should I go ahead and do that before viewing TCOE? Or does everything work just as well if I approach it completely scattershot?

Science fiction story, who wrote it? Late 70's- early 80's, probably from Analog. Regular people drafted to be torturers, first for terrorists and kidnappers, but by the end traffic violators. Set in San Francisco perhaps?

Doctor Who, I presume?

Whats a good place to start for a Doctor Who newb? I watched my first episode ever of Doctor Who. I loved it! The episode was called "Turn Left".

Its there a good jumping off point now, or can I just keep watching random episodes? Do I need to know back story?

Who do I owe and how much do I owe them?

Is there an easy and preferably free way of finding out if I owe anyone money (and how much)? College was one big money issue for me. I never had enough money, I never saved money, I had horrible spending habits, and I never paid my bills on time (or sometimes at all).
Fast forward some years later and my money handling has become somewhat better and I work a decently paying full time job.

I'd like to work on improving my credit and pay off any debt. I believe that I owe people money but I don't know who or how much.
I remember one year I was suckered into purchasing a local newspaper subscription. I started getting the newspaper and the bill but I never paid it and finally the paper stopped coming. To my knowledge I never received a collection letter... do I still owe them money?
I stopped paying an electric bill at one apartment and a month or so later the electricity was turned off... but it was only 3 days before I moved out and my lease ended so I let it be... do I still owe them money?
I purchased health insurance through a well known company (I'll call them Acme). I stopped paying the insurance 3 months before starting my current job. Insurance from the Acme was offered through my job which I signed up for. I received 2 more bills from Acme which I never paid and haven't heard from them since... do I still owe them money?

These are only 3 examples... I've left a long trail of unpaid bills in my past (I don't even remember some) and now I don't know where I stand. Is there a really simple way to see which of them are still waiting for payment and/or are currently affecting my credit?

Looking for a good Fables or Parables on how morality is linked to self-interest. (like the boy who cried wolf)

Looking for a good Fables or Parables on how morality is linked to self-interest. (like the boy who cried wolf) As a child my sense moral objectivity with regards to lying was heavily influenced by the Aesop Fables (the Boy who cried wolf)

The teaching of morality justified by what is best for your individual self interest stuck with me.

I try to apply it to all my moral beliefs eg: stealing.

I do not steal for personal gain because stealing harms society, and the society in which I live is one of most valuable assets I possess. If I harm society I harm myself.

Does anyone have any good fables or moral teachings that help show an example of this?

Which Who? Doctor Who DVD recommendations.

Looking for recommendations for (original series) Doctor Who DVD releases. I enjoyed The Five Doctors anniversary DVDs and want to wallow in more nostalgia but there are so many available, I don't know where to start. Any Doctor is OK by me; I'd like to have a good selection across the series. I'm looking for a combination of story, production and extras but mostly just classic Who-ness. What are the must haves?

Doctorin' the house

Help my son get his Tardis on. I'm currently decorating my 7 year old sons bedroom, and he is a big Doctor Who fan. He has asked me for a giant (I guess 6 ft) tardis on one wall of his painted bedroom.

My initial thought was to paint - but I don't have the requisite skills really, so I was looking for a Fathead / WallBangers equivalent. I'm not sure the custom option on WallBangers will allow me to use a copyright image.

Do you have any other recommendations for giant Tardis resources? Or maybe a suggestion to get a large scale picture onto a bedroom wall - I'm in the UK if it makes a difference.

Learning to ride horses

How do I learn to ride horses as an adult? What to look for in an instructor, school, and horse? I am in the DC area. Over the last six months, I rode horses for the first time as an adult. All the rides were basically adult pony rides that are given to tourists (like me). They had super gentle horses that walked the same trails every day, so about all I had to do was sit and enjoy it. Most recently, another person on a trip gave me some hints so that I was able to enjoy riding at a trot and canter (the horse stopped galloping after a few steps because I think it figured out I had no idea what I was doing there).

Those rides, combined with the fact that the new Mrs. Procrastination comes from a family that has horses, make me want to learn to ride so I can join them. Their horses, however, are not ridden often so cannot be counted on to be kindly and gentle. I would like to learn to ride well enough so that I can go on basic trail rides with the relatively less-gentle horses.

I have googled and found some places around DC that offer lessons, but I don't know the difference between the styles they offer (english, western, and dressage). Any recommendations for specific places or styles? What do I need to know about horse body language? Is there anything I should be asking that I am not?

Thanks.

Pinball filter! A ways back, like five years. I remember finding and downing and finding a a way to play Doctor Who pinball on a pc. Via an emulator.

Years later I am on a Mac and it looks like the sites I went to are either long gone or not updated.

Anyone have a good primer on where to start and where to go to find some pinball goodness.
In the 2005 episode of Doctor Who titled The Christmas Invasion there was a song near the end that starts "Well I woke up today". The song takes place as The Doctor's 10th personality is choosing his outfit from the stores in the Tardis. Can this song be had in it's entirety anywhere?

It's like a what in here?

DoctorWhoFilter: in the UK we have a TV show called Doctor Who, in which this dude with a long scarf travels through time in what is essentially a small garden shed called a TARDIS (Time And Relative Dimensions In Space).
More extraordinary than it's time travelling ability though, the TARDIS is actually bigger on the inside - you walk into small garden shed to find huge room the size of a small television studio. Hence, in the UK when you, for example, get into a car that looks kinda small but is actually incredibly roomy inside, one might say, "bloody hell, it's like a TARDIS in here."

So the question is, is there an American equivalent?

Exterminate the Doctor!

So I'm watching the new Dr. Who series and they are dealing with the last of the Daleks, I want to know what happened to the Daleks since Tom Baker was around (possible spoilers inside). In the current episode they mention the Great Time War, in which all of the Timelords and Daleks perished. When did this happen? With which doctor? All I know is that The Master (a Timelord himself) created the Daleks with the sole purpose of elimitating either the Timelords or Dr. Who himeself. What else happened?
