I read something really beautiful online within the past . . . year or so, may or may not have been in the context of a discussion about abuse, may or may not have been on metafilter. It was this lovely little statement that said something along the lines of, "Whenever you think back on who you were in the past and feel pain for how helpless and alone you were, don't despair. It's almost like you're sending who you were the strength you needed to become who you are." It was way more elegant than that, and I want to find it again and I have no idea how to go about it. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?
