Wetsuit for lake swimming in Spring?

I am thinking about getting a wetsuit to swim in the lake during the spring. I have never purchased or worn a wetsuit before. I don't know what features to look for, and I don't even really know how much of a difference it will make. I would hate to spend a bunch of money only to find out the lake is still too damn cold.
Bonus points for a website that shows lake temperatures for Ontario (Nottawasaga bay).

Best immediate treatment for severe wetsuit/nappy rash?

What's the best way to immediately treat severe wetsuit rash on neck? Hey all,

I've been a surfer for years. I wear a rash-vest and am careful about choosing my suits and the fit of them. No problems there.
However I'm also a long distance swimmer. In the winter I swim short distances without wetsuit. However in the spring (in Ireland) I have to wear a swimming wetsuit as I swim longer distances before the water gets up to 60F in the summer and I can go without the suit.
I wear a rash-vest under suit and I also put liberal lanolin on my neck (thicker & longer lasting than vaseline or Bodyglide, preferred by swimmers for long distance). However a few hours of swimming will still cause sever neck rash.
After a 2 1/2 hours, 8KM swim yesterday my neck is raw.
I've previously tried Sudocrem & Morhulin, both Zinc Oxide treatments for nappy rash. But they don't really help in the short term. I've used Germoline, a topical off-the-shelf anaesthetic antiseptic mainly to reduce the pain.
Any other suggestions? (Since I'm in Ireland, any suggestions would need to generic rather than specific, unless you know the Irish/UK market) But I'd really appreciate any suggestions.
(Yes, it will pass in 4 to 5 days), I'm thinking about a 5 hour race soon where I'll be completely raw afterwards. (Actually the race is split. I'll be raw and have to get back into a wetsuit for a few further hours swimming.)

Where can we find a large selection of triathlon wetsuits in New York City?

Where can we try on lots of triathlon wetsuits in New York City? On Saturday? We're looking for a women's triathlon wetsuit in New York City -- and have one day to do it (Saturday). Any recommendations of stores (in any borough) that may have a wide selection in stock? (It's hard to tell based on a Google search which stores carry a decent stock.) Thanks for any suggestions!

Surfing Sydney

Going to University of Sydney...need to surf....bondi? Ok, so i am going for a semester abroad at University of Sydney, in other words i will be living somewhere around it. Glebe, newtown, camperdown, etc. I don't exactly know yet as i have not found a place to rent for 5 months as of now.

Anyway, what i need to know is how can i get myself and my surfboard to the beach (which i assume bondi is what people surf). Do people ever take it on the bus like people hold snowboards on buses?

Are there any locker/storage places i could keep it at the beach? Also i am going to be around from 2/16 - 7/1. Will i need to wear my wet suit? what will the air/water temps be like?

Neoprene, not neo anymore

What can I do with my old wetsuit? I have an old wetsuit (2mm SeaQuest shortie, essentially this suit) that has had a fantastic run. I've managed to wring 12 years out of it (snorkeling, surfing, scuba diving, and just messing around in the ocean) and have sewn and glued it back together at the base of the zipper multiple times. It is in great condition still (some minor aging of the rubber) but the hole is not repairable anymore.

What are some cool things I can do with it? I am pretty crafty, so any suggestiions that involve cutting it apart and making something cool with it are great. I would also be willing to have it recycled for another purpose.

Be my Q. Help me crash a party like James Bond.

A secret cabal of family members is having a rather big party this summer on the shores of Lake Huron. My mission: arrive in style a la James Bond. I've checked out their security, and although strong on three sides, they haven't guarded the lake. Fools. I would like to arrive via the lake. However, I'm having a tough time with what to wear. Preferably, I'd like to slip out of my wetsuit into a crisp, wrinkle free tuxedo.

Is this possible?
