The last time I deadlifted (last Wednesday), I felt great - felt like I really nailed the form for the first time in awhile. Then, two days later, I had a sudden outbreak of stiffness and aching right at the base of my spine. What gives?

Can anybody recommend a weight training program for a total newbie - something to go with a regular running schedule? Am overweight and trying to lose the pounds - something I've had difficulty doing with only running.

Going back to the gym after a winter of poor health and need to recover muscle tone (not debilitated, just a weakling). Help me devise a weight-training regimen that I can do in about 30 minutes, incorporates both arms and legs, and includes opposing muscle groups.

I recently decided to go to the gym and start exercising, in an effort to lead a healthier life. I'd like to start running, but also put on some muscle mass. Is this possible, or do I have to choose one?

In order for a male who's 30-40 lbs overweight to lose that extra weight and look reasonably toned by working out 3x/week for 30 mins each, is it better to a) do something like the
Spartacus workout (high-intensity circuit training with somewhat lighter weights) or b) do more traditional lifting of heavier weights? Or some combination?

I'm a 35 yr old female, 5'6", 120lbs, in good general shape (walk loads, work out) who has never been able to achieve a single-push up. It's a key move to many of the workouts I want to do, but most strength-building programs assume that even the weakest can do at least one. What should I do?
