Help me understand my body and weight loss.

I weigh myself every weekday at work on the same scale (an electronic medical-grade scale they use for patients at the hospital where I work) and at the same time of day. I have noticed that when I go off my diet for a few days and my weight creeps up, that that excess weight falls off again when I return to my diet much more quickly than the weight I've been carrying for awhile. An exercise plan that actually makes me sweat

So, I'm currently on a self-improvement kick that I'm looking to turn into a marathon. You might imagine that having cerebral palsy and being in a wheelchair adds a speedbump or two, and you'd be right. One of the things I've wanted to work on for a while has been my weight, flexibility and physical independence. I'm about 100 lbs overweight right now, and I know that much of the decrease in quality of life that I've experienced over the past few years has been my own doing. I either sit in the wheelchair, or a desk chair, or on a couch/bed. I never move. Ever. I know that needs to change, and I've spent considerable time researching wheelchair fitness, but haven't really found anything that fits my very particular needs. [more inside]

Seeking Sludge Solutions

I have been trying to lose 5-10 pounds for three years. I have succeeded only in gaining 15. Clearly, I am either hopelessly incapable of dieting/exercising or it's physically impossible for me. As a last-ditch effort, I find myself wondering if I can just replace some or all of my meals with some kind of... nutritious slurry... without that being a detriment to my health. Turning the corner on 50 (pounds down)

Maintaining significant weight loss: how do you do it?

A year and a half ago, I lost a large amount of weight, i.e. 75 lbs, or about 30% of my body weight on a very low calorie diet, under medical supervision. Although I was not able to follow the official maintenance program after moving to a new city, it was relatively easy to keep things stable for the first year. But, about four months ago, I notice that some of the weight--about eight lbs worth--had crept back on. Although I've lost five of them, the last three seem determined to stick around. This, combined with the dismal statistics on long-term maintenance (97% of people regain within five years), has me pretty scared. Have you beaten the odds, and if so, how do you do it? I'm currently on a campaign against the 20 pounds I've put on over the last 2 years (stress eating, sedentary lifestyle, post-30 metabolism drop, you name it). I hear great things about Weight Watchers, but my buddy also introduced me to the MyFitnessPal app, which is free. Experiences of females that started weightlifting?

I switched from doing cardio to lifting weights at the gym, mainly because I LOVE IT. However, despite every website telling me that, as a woman, I won't get "big and bulky," I think I might be. I've gone up 1-2 clothing sizes, my butt has exploded, jackets now seem narrow in the chest ... It would be one thing if, standing nude in the mirror, I saw a 6-pack staring back at me, but I don't. It doesn't "look" like I've lost much body fat at all (but I can definitely tell that I've gained muscle - I've got a bicep! For the first time ever!). So, my question: will one day my muscle mass get large enough that my metabolism will rev up and my body fat will melt away? What are other ladies' experiences with beginning weight training and that effect on their body? (and I mean REAL weight training - bench presses of over 100 lbs, for instance - not lifting a 5 lb weight)

My demands are reasonable, my diet is ridiculous.
