Two of my closest friends are marrying in two months and leaving for New York City for (at least) two years this fall. For their wedding gift I'd like to give them "small papery things" - subway tickets, restauraunt coupons, tickets to museums, etc. - that they could take easily with them and give them a headstart in exploring the city. Now I'm looking for recommendations in general but also helping hands to get these things to Austria.

Lots of people getting married! So little time to think of wedding presents for each of them! And I find getting stuff from the registry so boring. Help me find a good gift that can keep on giving: something that I can buy multiples of, and then thoughtfully personalize for each of my wonderful friends.

My father (a widower) is getting remarried quite soon. Can you help me come up with an appropriate, ideally "experience-based" wedding gift for somewhere in the vicinity of southern Ohio? Perhaps even one that isn't going to break the bank? Because if not, I'm sorely tempted to go the "really nice card" route.

My husband and I are going to Paris this weekend to meet up with my very good friend who just got married Sunday. (Yes it is their honeymoon, no we're not crashing it just meeting up with them for a day) I'd like to give them some sort of wedding gift, what can we get/do for them?

Wedding gift etiquette question: Should I give a gift certificate to a couple for one person's meal at a restaurant that I know the couple really wants to go to (Komi), or a gift certificate for a meal for two somewhere else, but a place that is not quite as good (Palena)? (DC-specific!)

I want to get a wedding gift for a friend in the Clive/Des Moines, IA area. I'd love to give her and her new hubby an experience present (gift certificate to a restaurant or for a couples massage or for theater, etc.) of around $150.00. I don't live in Iowa and have never been there. What recommendations do you have for romantic restaurants, relaxing spas and wellness centers, innovative cultural institutions, quality theater? Other experience ideas appreciated.

YetAnotherWeddingGiftQuestion: A month ago my husband and I attended a friend's wedding. We took our gifts to the reception (a cookbook and a set of pots and pans, wrapped in the same distinctive wrapping paper). Today we received a thank-you note - for the cookbook. Do I ask the bride and groom about the cookware? My motivation isn't "we got you this nice gift, and we want you to acknowledge it." When we got married, we received one set of china that we couldn't ever attribute to anyone, and it bugs me to this day that we couldn't properly thank the gift-giver.
So, do I ask? Or just let it go? These folks are friends, but not close ones.

My wife’s cousin is getting married and we’re looking for ideas for a wedding present. Given that we don’t know him very well the current idea is to get a gift certificate, either for an “experience” or for a nice (local, non-chain) retail store. The couple-to-be is Scottish and living in Edinburgh (we’re in Seattle and have one visit to Scotland between the two of us) and in their mid-thirties. They’ve been living together for a while and have a baby, so they probably don’t need basic household items. The cousin is a top notch chef, so I’m guessing a certificate for a restaurant would not be the answer.
Budget is around $100. Any ideas?
