I'm getting hitched! On September 6th! My dress doesn't fit, and it needs to be altered. [more inside]
Found a weird, cool dress I'd maybe like to get married in. No idea how to get my hands on it. It's look 40 from the Donna Karan Resort 2012 collection. I don't know how "designer" things work. Help. [more inside]
I recently got engaged, and am so happy about this! But, I am not the type of girl who always dreamed about what my wedding would be like...basically, I'm more of a casual-type person who is not super into party planning (nor is the hubby-to-be). :) I feel like we need some help in figuring out how to make this wedding happen, but I don't want to get sucked into all the wedding industry stuff...we are not rich, and to the extent we will want to spend money on this, it is probably not on things like ridiculously expensive flower arrangements. So, two questions: [more inside]

I need to clean an expensive white Oscar de la Renta skirt suit that's lined in taffeta/tulle; it has some faint smudging here and there on the thick reverse silk-satin fabric. I wouldn't trust a normal dry cleaner with this, and don't know where else to go. Alex's seems exorbitant and gets awful reviews; Peninou seems doubtful as well; and I read somewhere about Crystal in San Mateo but don't have much to go on.
Does anyone know a cleaner (preferably in San Francisco, but I can drive elsewhere if necessary) who works with designer items, maybe wedding gowns, who would know how to work with tricky white silk fabric? Many thanks!
Please help me find this retro wedding dress boutique in NYC that caters to plus-sized women. I may have totally made up this place in my head. [more inside]
Hello all. I was wondering if anyone has recommendations for a wedding dress shop in London or the Home Counties. I've googled extensively, but there's nothing like a personal recommendation, and none of my friends/family have got married in recent years.
I'm looking for a fairly traditional style of dress, budget is flexible (ie, splurge), and excellent customer service is really important to me.
Complicating factor: if all goes well, I'll be about five months pregnant on the wedding day, so a shop that could handle that would be great.
Any suggestions (or warnings!) would be much appreciated. Thanks!
Sewists/sewers/seamstresses of askme, I need your help. I bought a beautiful 1930s lace wedding dress yesterday, but need to have the back altered because though the dress fits at the waist, the zipper won't close in the bust. Other non-sewer advice welcome in the style department. [more inside]
I am looking for a non-traditional wedding dress but am not finding a ton that I love in my city. When I looked at Nordstrom, which was the best of the available brick-and-mortar options, I found this
, which I loved and looks good on me, but the navy is way too dark a color. If I want to find something with a similar fit and/or look online, what "dress words" do I search for, and where should I be looking? [more inside]

I'm getting married in a year, and am currently a bit out of shape. I feel I should lose weight to fit into the nicer wedding dresses, but need feedback on how realistic/rational my goals are - especially given a complicated history.
