I'm just starting my undergraduate thesis, and would like a backup method a bit more reliable then my standard 'ThesisV3.tex' + emailing it to myself method. I've never worked with version control before, though I'm sure I can figure that out. I am however worried about *where* to have my offline backup sync too. [more inside]

I have some hosting. I use oldtld.com currently as a TLD, to point people at it. On oldtld.com, there are several subdirectories, which I'll call /olddir1, /olddir2, etc. What I want is to be able to buy a new TLD - newtld.com - and point it at the same hosting, yet keep the two separate.
