Good websites for cell phones?

What are the best websites to view on a mobile phone? I have a Samsung A900 and it has a pretty large viewing area, what websites would be best that are specifically formatted for cell phones? I am interested in any website that you can think of but specifically good news sites. Also any website that is leading the pack in UI for cell phones would be great. Also if you know any sites that aren't formatted for cell phones but still function well i'm interested.

Concert Listings Online

In browsing several concert venue websites, I noticed that many of them don't list their upcoming concerts and instead link off to www.livenation.com or www.pollstar.com. Does anyone know why this is? Is it a legal issue regarding the promoters of these events?

Forwarding traffic to the appropriate application and port with IIS

I've just installed Plone (www.plone.org) for a client on their server. They currently run their sites on Windows 2000 with IIS on port 80. I set up Plone to run on port 81, but what do I need to do to make this accessible to outside traffic? It is currently inaccessible to anyone outside the offices, and I'm afraid I have no expertise with IIS. [more inside]

I Am Not Content (in search of a forgotten website)

Oh dear. So I had this website that I spent a good couple of hours going over, but being at work, completely neglected to bookmark or save.

Defining characteristics?
It had a number of clever author/poet biographies, most of which I can remember were in the Byron Shelley Keats vein/era, and each of the authors' names had a made-up nickname inserted in the middle. As in... "William Butler 'Ghostie' Yeats" or somesuch. Also, there was a very nice glossary of musical piece definitions, most of which were words I was previously unfamiliar with. [more inside]

Why does IE hate my website?

Why does IE hate my website? I've got it looking decent in Safari and Firefox, but it looks hideous in Explorer. Having done a fair amount of Googling, I've come to the conclusion that it's probably related to one of Explorer's notorious CSS rendering bugs, but my self-taught CSS and HTML is not enough to enable me to pinpoint and solve the problem. What's the best means to mirror a webserver directory on a local OS X machine?

I maintain a complex website that I update by hand. (Unfortunately, this is unavoidable.) I want my local directory to be an exact mirror of the site, so that when I alter and modify thirty HTML files and I can simply run a script to copy them instead of FTPing them all by hand, in addition to removing deleted files and downloading any server-side changes made by scripts or other users. Is there a good skill-swapping website?

Can anybody recommend a good skill-bartering website? I'm a writer, and I've spent the past week tearing my hair out in an unsuccessful attempt to debug the website I'm putting up for my new humor book. I have a feeling that the remaining bugs are something a professional web designer could fix in a day. Meanwhile, there must be webdesigners out there who could use a writer's help in making their sites better written and/or funnier. Googling has turned up a ton of barter sites, but I don't know which (if any) are reputable and useful. [more inside]

Illustrator's portfolio website with great flash work?

This is a long shot: I'm looking for a digital illustrator's portfolio website that I saw previewed on a portal a while ago. His/Her work was soft edged, used lots of color and almost watercolor-type brushes (digital). The site was done in flash and had amazing "watery ripple" transitions in between sections, almost like a dream sequence on tv shows. I also remember you could pickup a mock brush and play with it as well.

With the recent decision by Kottke.org to be reader supported, I'm curious to see how you value your daily reads?

With the recent decision by kottke.org to be solely reader-supported, I'm curious to see how you value your reads. Would you be willing to pay $30 a year for Metafilter? More? Less? How about for some up-and-coming web magazines that operate on a daily basis, say The Morning News, The Black Table, etc.? And how much for up-to-the-second pro blogs in the Gawker empire where advertising is used? Gawker? Gizmodo? Wonkette, etc? How much for Boing Boing were it to be ad free? How much for Fark? How much for the individuals' blogs you frequent? And for some Kottke.org fans who don't see $30 as a micropayment, how much would you be willing to pay for a year of his content? Curious to see what range of dollar-value folks assign to their daily reads that are currently free to access. Please name and value other sites of your choosing.
