Is there a way to monitor my website to ensure it hasn't been hacked? Either on the webserver itself, perhaps verifying file integrity/listings, or maybe using a service that periodically visits the site? Sorry if this sounds like a naive question. What do professional webmasters use for this kind of thing?

What's currently the best plug-in (paid or free) for setting up/moderating a membership-based level to an already existing web site? I'm not a programmer, so preferably something that's relatively easy to set up, looks good to the eye, is easy to navigate and offers nice customizing options. I'm using Wordpress right now, so one that works with wp would be *most* awesome. Oh, and I'm on a Mac. Thanks!!! :)

I'm trying to remember the name/address of a funny website I used to visit perhaps 8-10 years ago or so. It was a humor site from out of England I think, presented in kind of a newspaper 'broadsheet' format, and had a distinctly anachronistic writing style, which I remembering being kind of Edwardian/P.G. Wodehouse-ish.

I need to password protect a section of the website I built (Mac OS X, Dreamweaver CS4) for my daughter's very small nursery school. Our web host is suggesting we buy a SSL certificate. The information I'm interested in protecting is the names, addresses, phone numbers and email addresses of about 60 people - do I go with 128-bit or 256-bit encryption? 256-bit is more than twice the cost of 128.

Due to a fiasco involving a failed service provider, I have to put together a small (5-10 pages) website in the next 72 hours. Since the domain name is still under the contractor's control and resides on her server, I must use CMS Made Simple (which is fine, given the need to update the site regularly). Otherwise it's a completely blank slate... and so am I.
