I have 6 websites on the same server with the same IP and the same server configuration, yet I can see just four of them via the address bar; two I can only see if I use a proxy server to browse to them.
I have tried flushing the IP, to no avail - is there something else I can do myself, or should I file a ticket with my semi-helpful webhost because this is a server problem?

I'm building a website that will offer in-depth player profiles and statistics. I'm looking for a Wordpress theme that lends itself well to this use -- I'm picturing the homepage being a list of teams & players, with each player name linking to his/her individual profile page. Are there any themes, free or paid, that would suit this purpose well? Simple & minimalist themes a plus. [more inside]

If I want to hire an editor to manage the blog for my ad-driven website, how much should the pay be if it's full-time? What about part-time? Other than creating and managing content, managing writers (and bringing on new ones), and promoting the blog and the site on social media, is there anything else I should list in a online editor's duties? I needed an image map. I'm no coder, so I went looking for a map and code that I could run, change and run it again to see what changed and if I had to change it back. I built a map that seems to be working, except for an small black square icon in the upper left corner. Before I removed the "img scr" line, there was a red "X" in the box. Now, it's just the box itself. I thought that whenever you saw a box like that, it meant the image couldn't be found. But, my entire image is there. When I preview the page in IE and Firefox, the map works and all of my links are where they're supposed to be, but the box won't go away. What is it? Should it go away or will something happen when I publish the site that will make the image nonfunctional? Will it be there when the site goes live?
Here is the code - http://pastebin.com/jcFJ433u

I am a novice at html, but I have found code that I've used to create placeholders for images on the right side of my page that don't move when I scroll down. I want to hyperlink each of five images in that scroll follow box to a different audio file. Each audio file corresponds to one of five explanations grouped together on the left side of the page. There are dozens of five explanation groupings and the follow box helps users remember what the terms mean by clicking a close by box when they need to.

I am an expert in "widgets". I own several domain names such as "widgetexpert.com", "widgetreview.com" ...you get the idea. All in all, I have about 5 domain names that are specific to my expertise for my consulting business. However, in the end, I only want to give clients ONE url to find my website (probably the expert.com one I listed above) and to put on business cards, letterhead, etc..
When it comes to search engine optimization (SEO), how important or helpful is it to have multiple permutations of domain names as opposed to keywording in the website itself? I keep coming up with new catchy website names that I could buy and redirect to the main site, but I'm not sure if this is just vanity speaking or if there's real value in doing this.
I have read another post indicating that this is not a very fruitful activity. Nevertheless, let's say for example, I was an expert in camcorders. Consequently, I would own camcorderexpert.com, camcorderreview.com, etc..But I also want to capture the question, "Should I buy sony?" Wouldn't that be captured "best" by shouldibuysony.com or whybuysony.com ...You get the idea.

Is there any sort of website where you can input your measurements and it will tell you which brands or stores carry clothing that will fit you? My mom was telling me about such a site (the name of which she can't remember, and it was a few years ago, anyway) for jeans and I was wondering if something like that still exists and if one exists for clothing beyond jeans. Thanks.

I need to go on a SEVERE media diet, but I crave media that is intellectually stimulating. On TV, I limit myself to culinary and travel shows, a form of "Mind Sorbet," if you will. I also like to think. I want podcasts, downloadable lectures, and websites that promote a positive, and even spiritual (but not religious!) outlook for today and the future. I want resources that are not selling me anything, per se. I'm OK paying for legitimate content! People have to make a living - I get that! I just want to avoid copious "up sell" sales techniques.

that is a bit out of date on a university server. I am primarily familiar with Google Sites and Wordpress, where there's a CMS editor, but here it's just an ftp site with raw index files that require Spry to run. What do I need to edit it? Would it be relatively easy to create a redirect to a site that I control running a CMS I understand? How do I keep that from ruining all the old backlinks?

I'm trying to find an example website to send to my web developer of "floating" text. I'm sure there's a better name for what I'm trying to describe. Basically, I literally mean that different lines of a short paragraph are "floating" in different directions and different fonts over an image.
Does this make sense? Can someone think of better words to describe? Best yet, can someone link to a site that has similar text?
Thank you in advance!

Some time in the last year (maybe two years, at most) I saw a simple, modern site that recommended a single device in multiple categories of hardware (monitors, laptops, vacuum cleaners, electric toothbrushes, etc., etc.). The home page was a grid of the categories, and then you clicked through to ~2 paragraphs explaining why the particular device was so great. I think in some categories there were "budget" and "money is no object" recommendations, but the basic idea was to do your thinking for you, and tell you exactly what model to buy. Does anyone know what site I'm thinking of?

Today, one page of our website experienced a 1 h surge: about 600 unique visitors landed there after doing a highly specific search on Google. The question was relevant and our (non-commercial) site ranks 1rst for this question, so while unusual this can be explained except for one thing: all those visitors were using the Opera Mini browser on a mobile device connected to a service provider that Google Analytics calls "Opera software asa". Also, the surge peaked at 11 am GMT+1 and then was basically over (no tail). Any idea of what happened? [more inside]

A month or two ago I saw a video someone had made of an exchange they had with a customer at work. The video had two cutesy CGI dog-like animals talking with very basic gestures and motions. It googled the watermark in the corner of the video and it took me to the site the guy had used to create the video. The name was four letters long but it wasn't a real word. There were multiple themes or scenes you could select, enter dialog, etc. Most of the themes were very cutesy- animals, flowers, etc. The speech seemed to be rendered by some typical voice-to-text software as it was very flat with no inflection. Overall it was a pretty easy to use website. [more inside]

I have been tasked with finding a web solution for a volunteer group associated with a university.
There are already pages on one of the departments' websites, however, it will be months before any changes can be made to that as it's under the rule of a CMS which is about to be migrated and to which we won't be able to really do anything until November. We want all the usual stuff like a blog and a Twitter widget and latest news and yadda yadda, but anything we add - and possibly anything we remove - would have to wait till November if we use the existing hosting arrangement. This is why I want to stick up another web infrastructure for us somewhere else, probably not hosted by the university. [more inside]
