I have a collection of 50-100 images. I want to display them on a very basic webpage in which two random images are displayed side by side each time the page is loaded. Is there any free (or paid, I guess) website builder that could do this very easily? Or, do you have a suggestion for some very basic way for me to build it myself? I have little to no programming skill but used to muddle through some html back in the day.
I'm looking for a webpage or series of webpages that detail Chris Claremont's original tenure on the X-Men books back in the 70s and 80s. Examined were his style of writing with serialized character-driven stories such as the Dark Phoenix Saga and the Shi'ar Empire, etc. More about the website itself inside. [more inside]
I have a computer science degree so I know (or can learn) the technicalities of web programming, serving a site, etc. I'm looking for high level advice. If someone asked you to make them a business website today, how would you go about it? [more inside]
My PI needs a new lab website. She has asked me to look into free hosting/sitebuilder type services ala Google Sites. What is the best service, what are some examples of well-done lab sites using that service, and what are some tips for getting the most out of it? [more inside]

I want to take an Excel spreadsheet and just make it a dynamically sortable table I can put in a webpage or blog. I want people to be able to click a column, and have the table be sorted by that column. Best solutions? Also, if the table included locations, is it possible to make them selectable, and have the selected locations display on Google maps? Thanks.
Why do the links on this website not work with any browser I've tested (on Mac OS X), but work fine in Internet Explorer 7 (on Windows)? [more inside]
Is there a script (perl or php, no MySQL because I don't understand it and don't want to learn it) that password-protects a webpage so that it can be viewed only by someone who logs in with a username and a password, and also logs that user, so that you can have a record (very important) of who's viewed the page? If so, where can I get me one?
I'm developing a form Adobe Acrobat which, when submitting, calls a php script, which performs an INSERT into a MySQL database, then comes back with a "Thank you" web page. The script is called just fine and the INSERT works, but the browser hangs on the Thank You page. [more inside] [more inside]
