I've launched a website less than a month ago, but all the domain names I think best fit what I am doing are taken, so I took a name I don't like. I would like your help renaming it. [more inside]

I've bought a domain with Godaddy. I would like the http://mydomain.net (with no 'www') to go to my site, except it doesn't, it goes to a parked page. How can I change it so it goes to the same place as typing http://www.mydomain.net? (I'm not an idiot, but for these purposes, I might need it spelled out).

Why does a WHOIS/LOOKUP search show that my website domain is registered to (1) my name at (2) not my address under either (3) namejuice.com or droa.com and say that my website is "locked"? My web designer can make changes to the site. Does this mean that I am going to have to pay some sort of extortionary premium to get my site back when it expires next year? P.S. -- It's pretty easy to find plenty of complaints about droa.com's "slamming" of domain names via Google. I assume that the term "slamming" is either what I am talking about or related to it.

Thanks to your earlier help, I have successfully ported my C# project over to the Mac. I have also ordered a new DSL line with a static IP from bway.net. What do I need to know in order to host my website, accessible via my TLD, on a PowerPC Mac mini running OS X 10.4? How can I be my own DNS and mail server? Without overshadowing that question, would it be smarter to think in terms of DynDNS for external DNS/mail services?

Domain mapping to a TypePad blog. For the past 10 days, I have desperately been trying to map a domain name to my TypePad blog. Every solution offered to me by either TypePad or my registrar seems to undo something else. I am trying to: have the domain mapped seamlessly (masked, I believe it's called), but also for the Permalinks (unique urls) to work. I am in over my head! [more inside]

Securing a website: I just bought a domain and some web space. My immediate question is: how do I "close" my directories, so that everyone in the world can't browse them just by typing in the directory URL. My larger question is: what are the best practices for securing a website or a weblog? [more inside]

Is there such a thing as a Web site where you can type in the name of a particular organization or domain, and find out what e-mail scheme they assign their employees? Let's say you're trying to locate John Smith at the fictitious Omni Product Corporation...then you could look up the company and find out whether they typically give out addresses that are "john.smith@omniproduct.com," "johnsmith@...," "js,"...etc.? I realize this sounds like a spam apocalypse, but it would be so useful.

I would like to register a .nl domain, however I am not based in The Netherlands. Can this be done?
Bonus points if my name / address information can be kept out of whois.

Client has forgotten where he registered domain. We need to change name server info. Whois doesn't really help as it just tells us he's the admin contact, etc. Anyone have any ideas how I can find this info?
