I have recently taken charge of
an old webpage that is a bit out of date on a university server. I am primarily familiar with Google Sites and Wordpress, where there's a CMS editor, but here it's just an ftp site with raw index files that require Spry to run. What do I need to edit it? Would it be relatively easy to create a redirect to a site that I control running a CMS I understand? How do I keep that from ruining all the old backlinks?

Doing some web design after being out of it a long time and my brain isn't in gear. I'm admittedly rusty and oblivious to the latest trends, codes and plugins for designing some of this basic stuff right now. Main goal: if I can make my client's dream site an awesome reality in a quick manner while remaining as lazy as possible, that would be fantastic! ;)

Hope me! I have a Wordpress foodie blog and I have a kitchenware retail website. I want to take the blog and export it to my website. Somehow. It gets a little more complicated and I'd really appreciate some help walking me through the various procedures. Wise advise on blog organisation would also be deeply appreciated. Apologies in advance for the longwinded rambling to follow.

This weekend I'm setting up a website for an academic event. I'd like the homepage of the site to have large, clickable progress bars that display the number of posts for each of the subpages (News & Announcements, Blog, Events, etc.). As more posts are added to each of the subpages (posts would likely be sorted and displayed by category and tag), its respective progress bar takes up more screen real estate and the tally count listed on/near it increases. Basically, I want the homepage to look like a giant, dynamic bar chart. Is there a freeware (or cheap) template, widget or piece of code that allows me to do this?

I need to slap together a website FAST that contains a map and a (sortable? filterable?) list of Wisconsin-related protest/rally events. I'd really, really like it if people could enter their own events and they'd show up on the map without a lot of intervention on my part.

Due to a fiasco involving a failed service provider, I have to put together a small (5-10 pages) website in the next 72 hours. Since the domain name is still under the contractor's control and resides on her server, I must use CMS Made Simple (which is fine, given the need to update the site regularly). Otherwise it's a completely blank slate... and so am I.

I want to take an Excel spreadsheet and just make it a dynamically sortable table I can put in a webpage or blog. I want people to be able to click a column, and have the table be sorted by that column. Best solutions? Also, if the table included locations, is it possible to make them selectable, and have the selected locations display on Google maps? Thanks.

What do I need to know to add a shopping cart function and sell goods? What e-commerce software would be easy to use and integrate into my site? Payment doesn't need to be automated, but I would like to be able to securely take credit card numbers for processing later, if possible.

I'm going to start a site to
petition a board to keep a local public official in office. I want the site to include facts about why he should stick around and links (obviously) this stuff can be done easily with Wordpress (as we
learned yesterday), i'm guessing. But i also want to incorporate a petition that can keep some information private (like e-mail addresses) but make other information public (neighborhood, city, state). Ideally, I'd like to be able to print the content once the numbers get up. What's the best way for me to do that?
