Bizarre Apache/PHP issue.

I have a really weird Apache/PHP problem. Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Server, fairly typical webhosting setup. One of our sites returns 404s randomly through the day, typically late at night, but sometimes in the morning. It'll do this for an hour or two and then start working all on it's own. The other sites are fine. [more inside]

I am following a tutorial on how to install WAMPserver and Wordpress on my Windows machine to kickstart my learning of CM systems and PHP. A crucial component won't install and I don't know nuthin' about how to fix the problem. [more inside]

Using Apache to (almost) bypass Apache?

Is there a simple way to use Apache's ProxyPass directive so that everything apart from a directory beneath the webroot gets passed on to another server? If not, can it be done another way? [more inside]

"You'll gonna need a more sophisticated solution."

I've just learnt (after an afternoon of struggling) that Apache's mod_write module doesn't work for embedded media, like a video in object tags. The best response I could get to my problem was "You'll gonna need a more sophisticated solution.". Well thanks. Any pointers? [more inside]

Why does Apache stop serving one file after I request another?

I have run into an unpleasant Apache concurrency problem, whereby the ongoing download of a large file spontaneously and silently hangs ~90 seconds after another request to the server is made. Error logging set at the highest level reveals nothing. Any idea what may be causing this? (Apache/2.0.52, Win2K Professional) [more inside]
