How should I set up a one-page website?

I want to have a non-gmail/slightly more professional address for my freelance work, so I'm planning to buy a domain. What companies would you recommend for a) buying a domain and b) hosting the site? I just want to have one page with a background photo, a line of text, and a link to my email. Is Squarespace worth it, since I don't know how to build the page myself?

How to download WIX javascript gallery images?

I'm trying to help my cousin migrate his WIX photography site to an actual host. His backup drive with all of his photos died and the only place these images exist is on wix, who doesn't support downloading the content. I tried httrack and a couple online website rippers but none are able to pull the images. Is there any way I can avoid doing this the amazingly hard way?

Looking for a good webhost that will let me run Unix processes

I'm in need of a new webhost, and I need the following: SSH/SFTP, PHP support, ability to run background processes (namely the Unix version of Dropbox), webmail forwarding, and monthly payments. I don't need much space (1 GB would likely be plenty) or bandwidth (1 GB/mo? maybe?), and the Dropbox process is literally the only thing I would have running. What's my best, cheapest option? Thanks!

Third party Plesk/Parallels Server Administration

Our VPS webhost was acquired by a larger firm, and slowly moved from managed hosting to unmanaged hosting. Our Plesk/Parallels server was compromised last night. In order to get it back online, I had to backup the old server, then have it wiped/reset. I'm looking for a third party server administrator to help move email files from the backup to the accounts on the reinstalled server. [more inside]

New to web hosting, what hosting services can I use?

I've recently created a small hobby site using wordpress and currently hosted on wordpress.com. It is a niche site and I will have a number of product recommendations that I feel would be valuable to monetize. I'd like to add affiliate links (specifically Amazon.com) or possibly use adsense but that's a no no on wordpress.com. Can anyone help me through the myriad of options for hosting by providing some recommendations? [more inside]

Which free (or relatively cheap) webhost do you recommend?

I am currently using 000webhost and am in need of a change. Lately it has been slow loading and right now the server is timing out altogether. I'm studying web design at the moment so it's not the end of the world that this happens now as the only people checking out my site are my instructors. However, in the not so distant future I would like to go pro and host my portfolio on my domain so the server going down for hours on end at any time just isn't acceptable. So... which free (or relatively cheap) webhosts do you recommend? Thank you so much for your suggestions! :)

Help me find a web host that won't delete my files.

Fastest transition to another webhost?

My Yahoo small business account (webhosting) was closed because my autopay credit card expired. I called to try to reopen and was led to believe that my website would be put back up like old times once I signed up for another year of webhosting. This does not now seem to be the case and I am now going to cancel the order within the 30 day period. Who do you recommend as the best webhost provider for a very small service business? (HTML5 capability would be nice.) I need to get up and running with someone else asap before i miss more emails/potential clients. Also, should I use the new webhost provider for email or something like googleapps? Thank you for any advice.

NetSol, .Mac or other host for .ca domains?

My friends have a webhosting account with Network Solutions. NetSol seems to be saying that you cannot point a .ca domain-name to that account. Is that really true? Are .Mac accounts compatible with .ca domains? If the answer to both is no, can you recommend a webhost for .ca domains? (They have already bought the domain.)
