Where to find frontend web development job at the lead/architect level?

I've been doing frontend web development for around 15 years and want to find a new position at the lead/architect level. I know a few sites to look at, and plenty of recruiters contact me, but what else can I do? [more inside]

Is there anywhere decent to look for freelance web work?

I'm a frontend web developer with quite a long resume. I work full-time but I'd like to pick up some freelance, remote work in my spare time. I'm wondering if there are any places to look besides my personal network, Craigslist, and those awful "Rent-a-coder" sites where you get underbid by overseas folks who'll do it for $9/hr. === JavaScript is actually not that ugly. ===

I'd like to learn basic CoffeeScript for a one-off project, but most of the books I've seen come from the perspective of the JS developer making the leap to CS. JS is ubiquitous and will no doubt come in handy in many more situations. What is a good pocket library of 3-4 books for someone new to JS and front-end web dev stuff, but not new to programming concepts? (For example, my C pocket library is K&R, Deep C secrets, and C: A Reference Manual. I know that the front-end web world is a lot richer than C-world, but do what you can to help me.)

Reading to complete before a technical interview (CSS, JS, HTML)?

I'm scheduled for a technical interview after the weekend for a front-end development position. I'd like to spend some intensive time beforehand reading relevant blogs and books to prime the ol' noodle and supplement my existing knowledge. Could you recommend some resources? Are there questions you would ask an applicant in this situation, or that you have been asked? [more inside]

Super-configurable javascript calendar picker?

Does anyone know of a Javascript/DHTML date picker (or calendar widget, or whatever you want to call it) that allows you to configure it so that only specific date choices are available? Specifically, I'd love to find one that lets me set its configuration such that only the first or third Mondays of the month are clickable, or other restrictions similar to this. Any thoughts?

Is there such thing as Javascript Tidy?

Is there a utility out there that does for Javascript code what HTML Tidy does for (X)HTML? I've started working with a bunch of Javascript code that's just messy as all hell, and would love to preprocess it into something a bit neater before buckling down and getting to work. Something online (similar to this online HTML Tidy interface) would be perfect, something *nix command-line would be good as well, and I guess an app that handled the cleanup would be fine (OS X preferred). This might be a no-brainer, but I've searched high and low without results...
