Ecommerce starting out -
1. Can anyone suggest the best way to do a highly custom ecommerce web site?
2. I know there is Drupal, but haven't really seen any example Drupal sites that impress me. Is it possible to build a "from scratch" custom web site and still integrate ecommerce?
Thanks so much for your help and opinions!

Should I knuckle down and learn to use Magento, or is there a friendlier option that will do everything I need?
I am building an commerce site for a small business that needs to serve both the general public and their wholesale clientele. I've got some experience with several Wordpress-based ecommerce solutions, but am I going to find them limiting in the long run?

I've built plenty of websites. I've never built an e-commerce website. I generally use Dreamhost as a host and Expression Engine as a CMS. What's my next step for building an e-commerce site for a new client? Resources? Recommendations? etc. I'm in Canada if that makes a diff; products will ship world-wide.

I'm building a website for a local store; they want a small catalog to sell a few of their products online. They already accept credit cards on-site and have a merchant ID#; can a pixel-pusher like me set up a shopping cart system out of the box for them, or do I need to find a web developer?

I'm a small-time, part-time web developer that typically does point-of-contact sites for very small businesses thrilled to have a web presence. I've never done e-commerce, but now have a client who's got the need.
What sort of inexpensive shopping cart do you recommend? Any advice? [
