Cat food + leaky trunk = mold nightmare

Mold in my car's trunk, very very nasty. I have a water leak, spilled some cat food in the trunk, and we had some very heavy rains recently. I've started cleaning it but want to know what's best to disinfect it, and whether I need to rip out the carpet. [more inside]

How can we get 800 litres of hot water in the UK within twelve hours?

Can you recommend a way for me to heat a large amount of water quickly at a venue that does not have a reliable boiler? I am involved in a UK event where we will have a hot tub. Unfortunately we can't get access to the venue until the morning of the event, meaning that the usual 24-48 hour period to use the tub's own heater is not an option. I have sourced a few potential solutions but am hoping the hive mind will help me narrow them down or suggest others. [more inside]

Feet in the water in Philadelphia or New York? Someone I care about and I have been through a rough time, and we're looking for a non-creepy, non-scummy body of water or river where we can take off our shoes and socks, dangle our feet in, and just sit for a while.

I would like to obey my thirst, but...

I would like to obey my thirst, but... I recently realised I don't seem to get thirsty when I should. I had to take a tablet and grabbed a glass of water to do so. As soon as I began drinking I felt desperately thirsty and drank a second glass. But I swear if you'd asked me a minute before, I'd have said I wasn't thirsty. In this thread, people are saying it's healthy to drink before you start feel thirst. But I don't seem to feel it much at all. [more inside]

Ok to use damaged bottle?

I am emotionally attached to an old Sigg aluminum drinking water bottle (ie, I've had it for many years). But now it's badly dented. Is it still safe to use? The metal is unbroken, but I'm concerned that any kind of coating on the inside may be cracked/compromised. Any advice please from water bottle gurus.

Oregon outdoors ideas needed for the weekend.

I've been procrastinating about finalizing my travel plans and now find the weekend looming and nothing planned. I've got Friday afternoon to Tuesday evening to start in Eugene (mid-state) to get anywhere in a 200 mile radius to have some fun. I love to mountain bike, be outdoors and get in the water. All else is optional. Not into campgrounds or crowds. The 4th is obviously a big weekend to travel. There's a lot to do here. What are some favorite places to get away and see some beauty away from it all. [more inside]

Tap water question

This morning while cleaning the crock pot, I noticed that the baking soda I was using was foaming up, as if i had added an acid like vinegar. So, I poured some baking soda in a clean bowl, to see if it was the water. It foamed! Is there a reason my tap water would be so acid? The only thing I found on the internet was a vague suggestion the chlorine can cause acidity in the water. [more inside]
