WVa water crisis - who came first?

Which facility was constructed first, the WVa American Water treatment plant, or the Freedom Industries chemical storage place? In other words, did WVAW "come to the nuisance," or did Freedom choose to build upstream from the water plant? what dates was each facility constructed? (and if Freedom came subsequently to WVAW, did the latter protest at the time?)

Does filtered water have less estrogenic activity?

Does a water filter filter plastics like BPA? Is there a way to test my tap water for them? Are there water filters that do not contain plastic? Does Aquafina or any other filter plastics? [more inside]

The seas are rising. Climate change has made it inevitable. I have a strange question... Assuming that world sea-level rises by 1 metre over the next hundred years - Would it be possible to cordon off a section of land, somewhere in the centre of a continent, and flood it to create an artificial ocean, thus reducing the consequences of the sea rise? Paint Rollers and the environment: Wash or waste?

My wife has come to the conclusion that it's more environmentally friendly to use a paint roller once (and then let it dry out and throw it away) as opposed to wasting upteen gallons of water cleaning all the paint out in order to reuse the roller. This seems crazy and a waste of money to me. What say you AskMetafilterians?

Aqua Sevenday?

Help me come up with a catchy name for my campus' "Water Week." It will be happening in late January and will be a week dedicated to discussing issues in three areas: environment, accessibility, commodification. Speakers, an art exhibition, and movies are being planned. Bonus points for recommendations of films, special topics, general advice.
