I'm a fat woman (US sizes like 26-28 at the moment), newishly arrived to Washington DC. Where can I buy some clothes my size, in a brick-and-mortar store where I can try them on, and if possible that's near public transportation? My job involves some physical work and can get a bit dusty/dirty; I tend to wear jeans or cords, and a button shirt with the sleeves rolled up. [more inside]
I think I want to try therapy again, but I'm not sure even what I should be looking for. Looking for general advice and specific recommendations in the DC area. [more inside]
Someone close to me has inherited a Yamaha grand piano, appraised by knowledgable tuner around $45,000. The owner needs as much of this money as she can get. How do we sell it? Is Craigslist okay for very-high-price sales? This is in the Washington DC area. [more inside]

A friend and his family are driving from North Carolina to Washington, DC. I'm going to drive down from Baltimore to meet them for dinner on Friday evening, but I hate going into central DC, so we've agreed to meet in a more northerly region: perhaps Bethesda, Silver Spring or College Park. Unfortunately I'm not too familiar with that area, so AskMe, where should we have dinner? It'll be a party of four adults and three small children at about eight-ish on a Friday night. It should be someplace we can relax and have a leisurely conversation. Easy driving and parking is important. Thanks for the suggestions!
I'm looking to take an intro to statistics class this fall or summer. I'd be up for taking it online or in person, if in person it would have to be in or near Washington DC. It could either be an undergraduate or graduate class, but not one where you have to know calculus. Has anyone taken a good introduction to statistics class in the DC area or online that they could recommend?
A relative of mine needs to get from the Southwest area of Washington DC, to Union Station, around 3am tonight/Monday am. I haven't been here very long, and I've only caught cabs in cab ranks from the airport or flagged one down, never called one for a late-night pickup, so I don't know what's best. Looking at Yelp for taxicabs, they're full of zero-to-one star reviews and horror stories. So please help! How can I best and most reliably get someone from southwest DC to Union Station in the wee hours?
My family and I are set to travel by train to DC for a week of enrichment during our Mardi Gras break. The weather looks like it has the potential to close museums etc. and make us fairly uncomfortable for the significant walking from place to place. We could cancel it all and set out for something warmer tomorrow, but is my concern overblown? We're going tomorrow through Friday. The potential for closures and outages is the biggest factor, I guess.

Hello D.C. Mefites. Later this month I'll have half a Monday to spend in D.C. The rest of the week I'm working until dinner time. I'm flying into Reagan around noon on a Monday. I'd like to cram as much Capital type stuff into the afternoon as I can. Any suggestions on what to do? A friend has suggested I rent a bike and cruise around the Mall, monuments, etc. Also, I run and would like to run two or three time the week I'm there. Any suggested multi-mile routes near the Pentagon or Crystal City area? I'm completely unfamiliar with the area, but would really like to avoid the hotel treadmill.
The first day of tap dance class is on Monday, and due to an ordering snafu, the tap shoes I ordered online won't get here in time. Where in the DC/MD area can I buy a pair of tap shoes tomorrow? I'm a women's size 7.
This is likely the first in a series of questions about moving from San Francisco to Washington, DC. I will be living near Foggy Bottom/GWU. What are DC grocery stores -- bonus points for nearby, but not required -- in which one can expect to find great produce, great bread, and great meat? If anyone is familiar with SF, I'm really looking for something like Bi-Rite, if it exists. Is Whole Foods my best bet? Thanks.
I'm spending a weekend going from Baltimore to DC. I would prefer to bring my car and drive but I think with the hassle of trying to find parking or actually having to pay for parking in the DC/Arlington area it would be easier to take the train. I'm not too familiar with Baltimore's Penn Station at night and I'm a concerned for my safety if I were to park in a garage and have to return to their at night. Where is it safe to park at night at Penn Station? And how much would it cost? ... Are there any other alternative ideas? Thanks in advance!
I need to get my 2 BR apt in the Washington, DC area painted before I move in. But my only personal-networking options have fallen through: the co-op itself is presently too short-staffed, and it turns out the guy recommended by my realtor can't do it until August. I really need it painted ASAP--although I'd also like a neat, professional job. Is it realistic, to want to get it painted much sooner than August? If so, how can I go about finding a good and reliable painter or company, being new to the area? (Bonus if you have a painter/company in the area whose work you liked and you would recommend!)
I have a ten-year-old boy staying with me for the next month in a Maryland suburb of DC. I would love to hear any and all suggestions for activities in the DC area (especially if anyone knows about any kind of baseball day camp or one day programs, anything baseball related). We have been having fun exploring the area but new ideas would be awesome. Thank you.
I'm subletting my room in a Capitol Hill, Washington DC rowhouse for 1 month. I pay $1250 for rent, and I'm thinking about charging $1050 in rent for a subletter to make sure I get someone for July. My security deposit with the landlord is about $1000. The landlord knows I'm subletting it and is totally OK with it, as long as I'm responsible for any potential damage. So would it be unreasonable to require a $1000 security deposit for a 1-month sublet? How about $750? $500? [more inside]

I'm going to the Presidential Inauguration this month, in Washington DC, and I'd like to solicit tips and tricks to make the day go smooth for me. The last time I was in DC was 8 years ago, and it was for a day trip. What to do? What to avoid? What is security going to be like, will they have food and drink for sale, etc. If you went in 2009, what was it like? How did you survive the day? Also, I have written both of my Senators for tickets, and have heard nothing back from them, so I'm going under the assumption that I didn't get any. Thus, I will probably be watching the ceremony on the National Mall. If I end up here, where's the best place to stand? I'm flying in from Seattle for this, I'm not missing it! [more inside]
