Warranty filter: My HP laptop is covered under an extended warranty for a host of known problems with wireless cards, power issues, etc. Now my laptop is having problems with these issues and HP has authorized me to send it in for free repair. The original a/c adapter was broken and replaced with a generic one. Instructions for returning the laptop say to include the a/c adapter if having problems with the computer starting with battery only (I am). My question: Will returning it with a generic a/c adapter instead of the original one void my warranty and lead to HP not making this free repair? Would it better just to ignore the instructions and NOT include the adapter and hope they will fix it anyway?? Thanks for any light you can shed!!

My 2006 Audi A4 is having ignition coil problems. And the dealer is saying because it's water damage related, it's not covered under warranty. I have NOT had the engine cleaned. I have NOT driven into a lake and I live in California where rain is minimal. Help me to not be screwed. [more inside]

I bought a high end Dell laptop for my business. When I purchased, I bought the 3 year OMG "complete care" warranty. Two days ago, the system bluescreened with a "memory parity 500 error". System won't reboot. In the last couple of days, I've spent over 6 hours on the phone with tech support, none of whom are native English speakers, to be told that my options are to either wait 3-6 weeks for a replacement system, or to accept a significant downgrade in components to have a tech come out and repair the system. Am I just screwed if I need to get my system up asap? [more inside]

So I just got the newest iMac today (the one that was announced last week). After 4 hours or so of use the fan has kicked on in a most noisy way and it won't shut down. Restarting does nothing. Take time to let it cool. Restart. Just more fan. So...anyone got a "here-n-now" fix or do I take it back to the store in the morning?

Guarantee question. Bought a load of stuff from Mothercare in the UK. Arranged to have it delivered to home. Some of the stuff was not in stock, so it took them nearly 2 months to deliver it all. Now this is not a problem, baby's not due for another couple of weeks, my problem is they are stating that the guarantee for each of the items starts on the day of purchase and not on the actual day we took delivery from them. So in effect we've been stiffed of 2 months guarantee. Is this right?
