I accidentally dropped my 5th-gen iPod on the floor, and now it doesn't work. I checked the serial number of the unit on Apple's service site, and it tells me that I only have 7 days left on my 1-year limited warranty. What should I do? [more inside]

WarranteeCard Filter: I'm on the fence about warrantee cards. I know there's a good chance of future pestering if I fill them out and send them in. But does sending them in have any bearing on the fulfillment of the warrantee?

A while back, my Palm died and I took it back to Best Buy. I had an extended warranty, and they said they were unable to fix it, so they gave me a gift card for the price of the PDA. I just got a call from their service department saying they got the PDA back and it works fine and I can come pick it up. Should I go pick it up? I know it's not exactly scrupulous, but I really hate Best Buy. Consequences?

I'm thinking about buying a Thinkpad (work related) and wanted to know if anyone had any experience with IBM's "depot repair" warranty option. Worth the extra money, or not so much? Also, does anyone know if you can purchase an extended warranty after you've purchased the laptop and used it for a while? Or, put more succinctly; "How does IBM's warranty program compare with Applecare?"
