EarthLink? WTF? OMG!

So I recently moved, and as I always do, got an account with Time Warner (who are pretty much the only option in the part of Austin where I live). I noticed that my IP was resolving as either "earthlink.net" or "mindspring.com" when it should be "austin.rr.com", but didn't think much of it. However, today I found a letter in the mail containing "important information about your EarthLink account." Wot's, uh, the deal? I didn't sign a contract with EarthLink and wouldn't, due to their Scientology connections. This is on top of the fact that my down speed is about half what it was not 15 miles from here.

Dispute a video takedown notice?

A home video of mine was taken down from Google Video by Warner Music because of the soundtrack. Should I dispute? The copyrighted song was someone else's content; however, it was used in a noncommercial nature, i.e. a video of my 6-month old daughter.

Only a part of the song was used, and the video itself was unlisted and therefore unavailable to anyone save friends and family receiving a direct link via a personal email.

I'm a little afraid because by disputing the video I'm legally exposed to this: "If, on review, the alleged copyright holder believes that your video infringes on its rights, expect that they will file a notification of alleged infringement under Section 512(c)(3) of the Digital Millennium Copyright Act."

So, dispute or no?

Identify these scenes: LA's Stack, a bull, a 60's Alfa, a clock, an explosion

Can you identify these scenes? LA's highway Stack, a bull in an arena, a 60's Alfa Romeo radio, a wall clock, and an explosion. I'm trying to find the origin of a couple of scenes, all of them from movies produced or distributed by Warner. All of those are definitely pre-1993, and most probably pre-1985. The shots were taken from La Classe Américaine, a French parody movie from 1993 that used sequences from other movies and re-dubbed them to create a whole new story, which a friend is restoring.

The first scene (first shot and second shot, ignore the text) shows the first four-level interchange in Los Angeles, aka The Stack, built in 1953. We have already found similar scenes in Hollywood Boulevard (1976), Helter Skelter (1976), and Death Wish II (1982).

The second scene (first shot, second shot, and third shot, but ignore the western scene at the beginning) shows a bull, probably in a corrida arena. Similar scenes exist in The Valley of Gwangi, Around the World in 80 Days, The Miracle, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service and Quo Vadis.

The third scene is a wall clock.

The fourth scene is a late 60's a US-model Blaupunkt Frankfurt or Blaupunkt Essen, most probably in an Alfa Romeo Duetto Spider. We've found similar scenes in The Omega Man (1971), Rebel Without a Cause (1955), Every Which Way but Loose (1978), Rock and Roll High School (1979), 10 (1979), and Any Which Way You Can (1980). We've watched all the movies marked as featuring a Spider on IMCDb, with no success.

Number five is an explosion that goes up in a mushroom cloud. It isn't from Mad Max, When Time Ran Out…, Bullitt, Hooper, Beyond the Poseidon Adventure or City Beneath the Sea.

I'd be really impressed if you could identify even one of those!

Cable box filter: Why does my cable box turn off by itself?? Sometimes when I come home from work or from a weekend away, I go to check my Tivo all excited to see shows that I missed. But then, when I go to access the show, it's a blank screen!

House? ANTM? The Office? Ace of Cakes? Mythbusters (yes I tivo mythbusters) Where arest thou??

At first, I had no idea what was going on. On the phone, my brother told me the cable box might be off. I went to check it, he was right. This has happened about 5 times over the past year. I don't live with anyone at the moment, I don't have any pets. Nothing in my apartment can physically turn off the cable box.

I usually wouldn't be worried about this, but I am going on vacation for the next 2 weeks and I'm going to be missing Bob Barker's last Price is Right and the season finale of America's Next Top Model. I know I can eventually get them on the internet, but I really want them on my Tivo at my convenience.

I have Time Warner cable. I live in an apartment building.

I have been on hold with Time Warner for the past 20 minutes. *shakes fist*

Help me find a cheaper Internet provider.

I live in NYC, and had AOL for Broadband for my internet service provided to me through Time Warner. AOL recently waived their fee's and is now free. I am left paying Tie Warner about $45 bux a month for broadband service.....I wanna find something cheaper, yet just as fast and efficient... Who can point me in the right direction? IS DSL a safe route to go? I never really learned the difference between the two; (broadband and DSL). Are their cheaper services out there, but just as good?

Time Warner Digital Phone service, anyone have any good or bad things to say about it?
