I saw Crimson Peak over the weekend, and, separately, I've had the Sleeping Beauty waltz in my head all morning. I'm in a waltzy mood, and want to watch youtube clips of beautiful, cinematic, sweep-you-off-your-feet waltzes from the movies. What are your favorites?
The main melody goes something like G# A G# F# D# G# (the last G# is lower), which is then repeated several times transposed to different notes. What is this piece?
In this youtube at 14:40, what waltz are they playing? In the story, it's being played three-hands-two-pianos (because the guy in the bear suit injured his right hand). Is that plausible?
I just started learning to waltz (yay!) and my biggest problem is finding the beat. So far, I can only stay on beat for songs like this Shostakovich waltz no. 2 where there is a dedicated instrument playing all three beats. Give me something like the first minute of this Waltz of the Flowers and I'm totally lost. How does one learn to stay on beat when waltzing?
What is the greatest recording of the Blue Danube Waltz? I want to dance to it at my wedding. I have Googled and whatnot. I want to hear personal suggestions from MeFites.
A couple of years ago I heard something on the radio- I believe it was the local classical station. From what I remember it concerned Jiang Qing ("Madame Mao") and was described as a "waltz". I think the premise was she was dancing to the music as it was played on a record player and reminiscing, eventually fading out. [more inside]

Please provide me with powerful, cinematic, orchestral waltzes. [more inside]
It's been a while since the hive mind has recommended music that blends classical with contemporary sounds. I'm looking for whatever is to classical what electro-swing is to jazz. Techno is too cheesy. William Orbit is too chillout. Wendy Carlos is too frenetic and ancient. A Touch Of Beethoven is too disco. Waltz Darling by Malcolm McLaren is too 80s pop. Is there anything since the posts in 2008 that blends orchestra with beats in a way that might work on a dancefloor today?

What's your favorite waltz? Bonus points for being easy to dance to and for finding me a "country waltz." [more inside]
The last song on Fiona Apple's new CD is called "Waltz (Better than Fine)". It makes me extremely happy. Please recommend other songs that will do the same. [more inside]
