In need of stylish, portable walking support

I am suffering from a medical condition that causes severe muscle pain and weakness. I think that a walking stick for occasional might help, but I want something that looks cool and that I can fold up and put in a bag when not in use. [more inside]

I'm starting a project wherein I walk each and every block of every street in Manhattan, at least once, over the course of roughly 2-3 months. How can an extremely obese and underconditioned man begin exercising?

Is walking at your normal walking rate, but increasing the distance you walk, sufficient enough to be considered exercise? Can anyone recommend exercises for people who are very underconditioned and extremely obese, but not in poor cardiac health?
