Walking in London

Where are some interesting places to walk in London? I am in London the next few days and would like to explore some new areas after work. All I know is Bloomsbury to Mayfair to Westminster, so not much at all! It would need to be reachable by tube and should be safe. I would love to find little shops or caf├ęs as well as just a pleasant place to walk for a few hours. I am staying in Hackney, if that is relevant. [more inside]

A long walk in Philadelphia and New York: Where should I be going?

Last year around the holiday, there was a trip to Chicago that ended up having an awesome walk down Clark Street for five or six miles. My boyfriend and I had a great time and want to replicate the experience in Philadelphia and Manhattan/ possibly the other boroughs. So, Philadelphia and New York people, what route would you recommend? Route preferences: between 5-7 miles, photogenic architecture, relatively safe neighborhoods, and not exclusively through highly touristed areas. We will be staying in Philadelphia and traveling by train to NYC so somewhere near a commuter train station would also be great but not absolutely necessary. I like snobby coffee, book stores, and craft beer, so any walk that incorporates some of those along the way would be great. Also open to suggestions for activities, shows, or other interesting things to do between Jan 9 and 13 in either city.

Where to eat & what to do in PGH

I'm going to be visiting Pittsburgh this weekend with four friends, staying downtown (I think City Center is the correct term?) near the Mellon Arena. We're already planning on visiting the Church Brew Works on Friday and seeing a Pirates game on Saturday. What can you recommend in terms of places to go and great eating options within walking distance of downtown/PNC Bank park? Two of us are vegetarians, and we're into cool record stores, bike shops, pubs, brunches, great independent restaurants and shops, and things unique to the city.

Good walks in Seattle?

I'm in the Seattle area for the weekend (thanks, Microsoft!) and I have all day tomorrow to see the city by myself. My favorite way to see a city is by walking around it: does anyone have suggestions of good walking routes?
