Is this food poisoning, stomach flu, or something else?

None Of You Is My Doctor, but before I spend money and time at Urgent Care, I'd like to ask those of you who have experienced this kind of thing if what I am going through right now is something you just have to wait out, or if I need to go see someone. (Warning: discussion of vomiting and other bodily functions inside.) [more inside]

Please help me not go crazy with worry about my wife's health.

My wife's been experiencing vertigo, dizziness and nausea for almost a week. I'm concerned; she says it's almost certainly going to go away soon. I'm extremely anxious when it comes to her health. I'm looking for reassurances or any other help to clear my mind so I can support her, as well as any ideas on what this could be. [more inside]

Appetite for destruction?

Talking about this with others I discovered that I'm not the only one who throws up, and then hours later, the first real meal you want to eat (after nibbling on saltines or something), is something spicy, greasy or fatty. Is there some science-based explanation for this phenomenon? [more inside]

There's no way to make inevitable vomiting more pleasant, is there?

When I get a migraine, it is accompanied by nausea, vertigo, and vomiting. But usually I have some time at the onset of the migraine before the barfing commences, and I was wondering if there was something I could consume (food, beverage) in this window of time that would make the inevitable reversal of fortune less unpleasant on my throat. A friend of mine has emetophobia and a small child. The school year's started, stomach-virus season is around the corner, and she'd like to try to find a treatment for the phobia. Barfing WTH!?

For the second time in less than a month I've had to go home sick from work because I was barfing uncontrollably--and then felt fine enough by evening to go for a run and eat a normal dinner. Is it something I ate? Food poisoning or allergy? The flu? WTH!? (Gross descriptions lurk within.) [more inside]

I have too much anxiety in the mornings. Help me make it stop.

I wake up too early every morning. When I wake up, I immediately start to worry about the Stressful Thing in my life. Then I get the tingly feeling in my skin and my heart starts to pound. And then I can't get back to sleep. And because I'm waking up too early, I haven't had enough to sleep. The sleep deprivation is compounding the anxiety. How do I stop this pattern? [more inside]

NAC makes me vomit

I'm in a research trial testing if N-acetyl-cysteine (NAC - an antioxidant) has a beneficial effect on mood (etc.) I started taking the NAC last night (on an empty stomach), and vomited twice upon awakening. I just had another dose, with lunch, and vomited again. I feel fine apart from this, and I read that NAC can cause nausea / vomiting. Should I keep on trucking, i.e., will my body get used to the substance? The research clinic is closed until second week of Jan! [more inside]

If I threw up Cipro an hour after taking it, did I absorb the dose?

I have food poisoning. I have been on Cipro since Sunday evening. I have not had vomiting from the disease, but bowel troubles. I took a dose of Cipro an hour ago, and I just threw up. Vomiting is a known side effect from the medicine, but should I be worried I didn't absorb the dose? How fast does your body process this stuff?
