Planning a special weekend for an out-of-town cutie.

What would be fun things to do when a long-distance makeout buddy is visiting? (other than, uh, make out) What little things would make this special and interesting and fun? [more inside]

How can I turn my unstable friend who wants to visit me down? [Redux]

So, good news and bad news about my codependent conundrum. The good news is that I've grown a backbone and I'm now willing to tell my mentally ill friend "no" about coming to visit right now. The bad news is that I've been waffling for so long, and at such a cost to his mental health, that things have gotten more complicated. I want to know: am I morally obligated to let him come at this point, and if not, what kind of excuse/explanaton can I use to let him down easy? (Really long.) [more inside]

Should I, and how do I, say "no" to my unstable friend about visiting me?

A troubled friend wants to visit with me for a couple of weeks, and is obviously very serious about it. I don't really have the time or energy to take him in, but I know his reaction won't be pretty if I say "no," and I don't know if I can handle worrying about him. (Long.) [more inside]

Two-Month Allowance

I've a boyfriend visiting me for a couple of months soon, from outside the US. Funds on his end are quite low, as he's still a student, so I'll be supporting both of us while he's here. (I'm happy to do it, I've a steady full-time job and I've really missed him since he was last here, a few months ago.) What I'd like to know is, would it be appropriate for me to also give him some spending cash for whatever small things he'd like to get for himself, during his stay? A prepaid card of sorts? And, how should I approach this without making him feel like he's completely dependent on me, even if that might be the reality? I'd like to be delicate. [more inside]
