I have a DSL connection. Vimeo lags more often than Youtube. Why? Is there something I can do? Chrome over Windows 7. Firefox secondary. AdBlock used.

I'm putting together a compilation of fun/cool/interesting/astonishing vids off youtube vimeo etc and etc to show to people, trying to give a little bit of a sense why I like the internet so much, why I get such a kick out of it, show to people who aren't as familiar with what is "out there" on the inter-tubes and/or aren't familiar with the net at all. Shadowbox redirects people to the Vimeo page instead of just opening up in a...shadow box.

I saw a music video months ago, on Vimeo I think. I don't recall anything about the song other than that I liked it. The video has stuck with me, though; it was a story about a group of people preparing a horse for sacrifice, scrubbing carrots and apples to feed it and making a fuss over it, then leading it out into a field. I'd really like to find it again. Does this vague description sound familiar?

Last week, Open Culture posted a link to a breathtaking little
video of Venice posted on Vimeo. The only thing Vimeo reveals about its video artist is the name
Icam from France and that they have 38 other videos posted. I would really like to know more about this elusive figure who captured the colorful, yet melancholy, beauty of Venice so perfectly! Anybody know anything further about the video artist Icam?

Is there any way to normalize the volume output on my PC so I'm not startled by clicking on a video link? The volume on YouTube and other sites varies so wildly from video to video that my
modus operandi is to mute before I play the video, then slowly increase the volume, but I'm hoping there is a better way.
