I'm a fan of the more out-there, esoteric side of Youtube, and looking for more channels to subscribe to. Although older content is fine, I'd prefer channels that are not defunct so I can look forward to future updates. Some examples below! [more inside]

AV experts, can you help me? I set up my current home entertainment system 11 years ago, and it's worked well for me. Now it is failing, and consumer electronics have moved on. I can't just replace the failing component with a new one because it is not being manufactured any longer, and I only need some parts of it. I'm having trouble integrating new things into the old setup. I need to upgrade/reconfigure my AV, and possibly wireless. Details inside. [more inside]
I'm trying out Captivate 8's new responsive designs and HTML5 output and am very annoyed with how smartphones handle the HTML5 video. For now, I'm setting up alternate, video-free content for the Mobile breakpoint. But the huge size of modern phones means that their landscape viewports are often as wide or wider than the portrait viewports of proper tablets. Is there any way I can set up alternate content based on a device being a phone (popping out video in its own player) versus a tablet (displaying video like a civilized device)? [more inside]
I'm trying to e-mail a couple of .mp4 videos to my girlfriend's LG G3 Android phone. The first one worked fine, but both of my attempts of the second video are apparently an "unsupported file type." I encoded the videos myself from QuickTime .mov source videos using Avidemux, and I'm at a loss as to why one works but the others don't. (technical info inside) [more inside]
Is there some standard set of frame rates for digital video files? I have some video from 8mm film scans, the source is 16 frames per second. How should I convert them with Handbrake to play on standard computer players? [more inside]
I remember something on the blue, likely last year, about a day's long video of a boat sailing somewhere in Scandinavia. Thought it might be Christmas related. Does anybody have a link to last year's or even better whether they're doing it this year?

What are the best Windows 7 applications for making a respectful slideshow for a funeral? I'm thinking there will be mostly pictures, but some video may be included as well. For now I'm thinking I won't be including music in the slideshow, but I'd still like to hear about software with music functionality as well.
I need to livestream a small-scale sporting event at the end of February 2015. I would probably like to continue livestreaming events for both business and personal stuff after that, so I am wondering about the best technology to invest in and system to use. [more inside]
" A year or two ago there was a funny music video lamenting the ridiculousness of the board game Mouse Trap from the 80s. I really want to show it to my aunt, who bought a modern version of Mouse Trap that is no better than the original, but I try as I might, I can't find it anywhere!" [more inside]

I'm interested in making perfectly-looping Vine videos of me playing guitar riffs. I'd like to shoot and edit these videos on my phone (iPhone 5, iOS 8.1), without using a desktop editor. Is there an app that allows you to hear audio while editing?.... [more inside]
I've got a long-running itch to play video games. They're insufficiently like work (relative to my other hobbies) that they're an appealing way to decompress, and I can do them when it's cold/wet/dark... but I am absolutely not motivated by the grind. Help me find something that will absolutely not require collecting all/some/the last/the only McGuffin(s). [more inside]
Been trying to re-find this video all morning. It's a mashup of some morning aerobics show (possibly British) featuring one lady and two dudes. She's obviously the lead/instructor. [more inside]
It was an upright arcade game, but played like a board game. You and some (allegedly) hyper intelligent extraterrestrial take turns placing tokens (colonies, energy nodes, whatever) on a series of boards that change from round to round. Tokens next to the token you place get 'flipped' to your color. There was console art depicting spacey aliens with pseudopods. [more inside]
I work with high school students who all have iPads. Because the ipad is so handy, and because iMovie is so easy to use, I want the students to edit their video projects on the ipad. Currently they use adobe premiere on desktop computers. I am not having any success finding simple solutions to this. [more inside]
So I have this DVD with accompanying copyright information, descriptive notes and disclaimers and I'd like to put it online so others can access it. The last time I did such a thing, I ripped it and converted to FLV and used JW Player. I could do that again but I wonder if that's what people at the end of 2014 would do. Are we in a post-flash world? Could I do something similar in a different format? (Even though I have some experience with this, please "explain like I'm 5.") [more inside]
I'm putting together a Halloween marathon party this weekend, with a few horror movies (about evenly split between good and cheesy selections), and lots of video interludes in between that speak to a sense of pre-2000 horror/VHS/halloween nostalgia. I need your help on the interludes. I'm finding it hard to pick the exact vibe I'm looking for, but for examples: [more inside]

Recently, I noticed some pixels flickering on one of my monitors. At first I assumed it was a problem with the monitor until I noticed the flickering pixels scrolled when the image scrolled (i.e., it's always the same pixel in the image regardless where the image is on the screen). So then I thought it was an animated image, but if I drag the window over to the other monitor, the flickering goes away. [more inside]
I would like to go back to speaking French and Japanese and found out that it really comes back to me better after listening to people having everyday conversations in a more "natural" setting (rather than podcasts, news, etc.). Where can I find some conversation-heavy videos to watch/listen to? [more inside]
I have three video files that I would like to play sequentially, stopping in between each. The trigger for playing the next video should be a button that when pressed, emulates a spacebar press (I have this button already). I'm trying to do this with VLC player on a Mac. [more inside]
Thanks to the wonderful responses I received in the question of "What would be in your best high school english class?" I've started the year by reading Art Spiegelman's Maus. What's wonderful is that my incredibly reluctant readers are actually reading and enjoying the book, what's not wonderful is they don't seem to understand that the Holocaust was a VERY BAD THING. I'm looking, ideally, for a 1 hour documentary that does just that. [more inside]
I have a video recording of a computer screen, and so the resulting video includes some wavy banding artifacts (the kind you often see when you film a monitor or TV). Small sample image. What is this artifact/noise called, and is there any way to remove it? [more inside]
I have two identical monitors, hooked up to a dual-HDMI graphics board. The board is a replacement for the previous, damaged board, and now one monitor clearly has display issues the other does not. In this link, the left image is the problem - note the white lines around the dark lines. Also, regular vertical lines vary in thickness on the left monitor, suggesting a resolution mismatch - but there's only one setting for that. [more inside]

Enjoying the "Walk Around the Compound" series of videos by BigCatDerek on YouTube, and I haven't heard back from him on this question so I figured I'd ask here. Which iOS app is he using to record simultaneously on both iPhone cameras? (I know he has an iPhone because he mentioned buying it awhile back).

After studying a lot of lighting tutorials, I've settled on some form of 3 point lighting to illuminate the subject (me!) as I cook. The problem is that my kitchen is connected to my very dark, cavernous living room, and so the space tends to swallow up any lights I use. Can you give me pointers on lighting this space, and help me to purchase more lights (if necessary) to adequately light my kitchen? [more inside]
I am a librarian and had a phone call this afternoon which centered around a VHS set of videos a lady had checked out in the early 90s. She wanted to know if I could remember the name of them. [more inside]
Here's the YouTube version of the video. I tried Google, Shazam, and Audentifi without any results. Does anyone know what the song or artist is? I understand it may be from an audio library or custom made for this video, but I thought I'd see if anyone can identify it.
I really like video games in which I can collect and build things. Occasional combat is preferred, but I'd like to find games where that isn't the focus. Don't Starve was pretty much perfect. I'm pretty new to the whole genre and haven't played many games aside from RPGs before. What else might I like?

There's an ad for the Chevy Volt in which a male-female couple is driving. The man connects his iPhone to the car, and asks Siri to read his voicemails. He then listens to one and is embarrassed by it. I've looked around, contacted Chevy and even their ad agency, but can't find video of this ad. The ad aired during The Daily Show online around Spring 2014. Sources anyone?
I am fascinated by the world of pop songwriting, and have read some articles about stars like Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Jeff Bhasker and anyone else in today's pop world... Now, where can I see video of them at work? Even if it's just a scene or two from a larger tv show or documentary.
I designed an app for tablets that I'd like to present to potential investors. Problem is, I can't make an in-person presentation and I'll have to settle for an online one. How do the professionals usually go about this (videos, images, ...)? [more inside]
This week I watched a Doctor Who episode from the Russell T. Davies era with David Tennant as Doctor 10. I cut my teeth on the Matt Smith episodes, so I always find the older episodes so different in terms of production quality. But what am I seeing, exactly? What were the technical changes in production between the two series? [more inside]
Is there a video player that can either play a file's chapters in reverse order, or better yet, scan through a video to detect scenes (editors do this, right?), and then play them in reverse sequence?
I run a science support network with frequent visitors and high turnover. A current project has two devices incorporating Axis webcams on a dedicated subnet. I have one laptop which is wired to the subnet and wireless on my “host” network. We don’t want to enable full routing to the subnet, so I want to use the laptop to re-broadcast the video from the two webcams onto the host network. The laptop (Windows 8) can see both the subnet and the host network, and machines on the host network can see the laptop. [more inside]
