What is an embeddable video player for multiple short videos?

Do you guys know of any plugins or sites that allow you to display videos in a way where there is 1 short video playing and has a bunch of short videos cued up next in line? Sort of like how on Youtube you are watching one video but there are a bunch of little thumbnails of the next videos to the right, but something you can take out of a site like Youtube and embed into another site, without the ads hopefully.

How can I make my own silent unboxing videos?

I discovered ASMR on Metafilter and now am a devoted fan. What equipment and techniques would I need to make silent unboxing videos like this one? Talk to me like I'm a five year old. I know nothing about video and sound recording.

Looking for program for video montage / randomly creating video on PC

I have a 2yr old and lots of video I take almost daily: I love how the iOS apps Qwiki and FrameBlast automatically/randomly cut and assemble videos on my iPhone to make a video montage - sometimes it lands on a really nice selection and I feel wonderful sense of serendipity. With little or no effort, I have a great video to share with friends and family. What are some PC desktop equivalent software programs that will make a very busy guy's family video montage creation easier?

Modify/hack a Google Hangout "feature": Press to Talk

I want to use a Google Hangout "On Air" for a project, but a tiny limitation is getting in the way. I would like to bypass the 'Press to Talk' functionality with a tiny browser script/hack/modification. My programming knowledge is tiny, but I am sure this could be done super super simply with a script loaded in the browser. Perhaps there's better solution. Any ideas? [more inside]

Video Game Design Software

My son, who will be turning 12 this month just told me that he wants a video game design software program for his birthday. He is already adept at website coding and has Microsoft's Kodu game design software, but finds Kodu very limiting. He is better at Photoshop than most of my colleagues at work and is generally very computer literate. His favorite game to play is Minecraft, so I expect that this is an example of the type of game that he would like to be able to create. [more inside]

Concise, fun science treatments like XKCD's "What If" and ASAPScience?

I'm slightly obsessed with well-put-together science-y treatments like those done by XKCD's "What If" and ASAPScience. Given this obsession, where are other places I might be able to get my fix? :) (Note: Video is fun, but I'm not opposed to reading, either!) [more inside]

16:9 video still has black borders on YouTube!

I am making a video composed of still photos that I'm finding on the internet. I want to put the final video on YouTube, so I'm converting them into 16:9 aspect ratio because I've been told that that's what YouTube needs in order to fill the whole screen with no black bars. But the video still has vertical borders! [more inside]

Pro-science Anti-anti-vaccine Animated Web Video from Australia or NZ?

I recently saw a great animated piece expressing exasperation (that I share) with the anti-vaccine, pro-feelgood-pseudoscience crowd. It was from Australia or New Zealand (maybe somewhere in the UK?), it rhymed, it was clever and stylized in a way I want to reference to an artist friend. Ringing any bells for anyone, or have the vaccines rotted your brains, too?

Help me find a '90s PC game.

I'm looking for a PC game that came out in the mid to late 90's (after 1994.) It was a Sci-Fi RTS/first person shooter hybrid game. I want to say it was one of the first of those. It was not the Battlezone remake though I believe it came out around the same time. The main FPS element was you driving around a futuristic tank. [more inside]

Software for low-res screen capture + audio

As part of an effort to better track my time and increase self-accountability while I'm working from home on easily procrastinatible projects, I'd like to record what I'm doing online and provide an running commentary. For example, I'd like the video to capture that I'm typing this question on mefi, and my voiceover explaining what I'm doing and how (if?) it contributes to what I'm trying to accomplish. I need something more than apps that track how much time on which websites. The apps and methods I've tried or seen are aimed at distribution of the final product for videos, on-line training, etc. They require a lot of processing power and produce large files. I'm looking for something that's lightweight and saves (by default, not by compression later) as a small file. Resolution is not an issue; the lower the better. The easier to install and use the better. [more inside]

Help me tweak my bike fit and/or technique

I'm getting a bit of pain in my left knee when cycling recently, so I stuck my bike on the trainer and shot a couple of videos (side, front). I'm planning a trip to both the doctors and a professional bike fitting, but in the mean time (seeing as I still need to bike to work everyday), I was wondering if any of our cycling MeFites could take a look and see if there's anything obvious to fix? On a first look at the videos, it looks like I'm really stretching at the bottom of my pedal stroke (even though it totally doesn't feel like it on the bike) - should I lower my saddle and try to keep a more level foot? In case it's relevant, I'm interested in comfort and not at all interested in speed, so feel free to recommend stuff that will make me slower if you think it'll result in a more comfortable ride!

Legal trouble from posting this video to youtube?

Speaking purely hypothetically, of course--imagine you took a scenic drive. You had a camera take a time-lapse of part of the journey. Splitting an mpeg video into smaller files

I am in the process of transferring several home videos from vhs tapes to mpeg files on my computer. I have transferred each vhs tape to a single file on my computer. Each file is roughly 3 - 6gb. Loverboy's "Lovin' Every Minute Of It" video -- who was the cover band?

Who was the cool, female-fronted, lounge-act cowpunk band covering "Workin' For the Weekend" in the Holiday Inn at the beginning of Loverboy's "Lovin' Every Minute Of It" video from 1985? Were they a real band, or just ringers hired for the part? I get the feeling they're meant to be mocked, being kind of low-key and feminine and camp compared to the ALPHA DOG CHEST HAIR ARRRR of Mike Reno and his Canadian AOR powerhouse, who will show us the light and the way and the beer, hoser. 1985, so much to answer for.

Dodging and burning effects in 1950s television?

Why do black-and-white shows from the 1960s, especially live ones, have what looks to be a burn (dark shadows) around bright objects (around Walt's signature and around people's heads) and dodging effects (white glowing) around dark objects (around the jet-black suit jackets of the announcer and dancers)? I originally thought it was some beleagured production assistant manually burning the What's My Line signatures so that they'd be more high-contrast and thus more readable, but now I'm seeing it everywhere!
