I have tipped Google upside down and shaken it but can't find this YouTube clip/book/name of relevant professor. I think I found the first mention of his academic work (with a female co-author) on behavioural change/competing priorities in an Ask answer. He discussed interviewing stroke (?) patients who were prescribed daily medication and how he unexpectedly found the underlying reasons they wouldn't take their pills. I really like the music in Apple's "Aluminum" video for the Apple Watch. Unfortunately, AppleMusic.info has no information about this video. Any idea who the artist might be?
I have a Sanyo Xacti VPC-HD1000 Camcorder (8 or so years old). Its video comes out in H.264 format (unfortunately)... [more inside]
My laptop is a Dell Latitude E4300, and it runs Windows 7 Professional. I have home wifi through Charter. Though my signal always tests strong, I have a lot of issues with video playback on Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, pretty much all streaming sites. The video gets slow or stutters or there are sync problems with audio/video. It doesn't matter which browser I use. I've tried lots of things, which I have listed below the cut, but none of them have really helped. [more inside]
In the early 1990s I saw a bizarre marketing video for OS/2. It was a cartoon of about 20 min. It featured anthropomorphic computers with screens for faces walking around a Wild West town. The DOS Brothers (which include DOS and WIN) overrun the town's sheriff, OS/2 V1.0. Then the new marshal, OS/2 V2.0 comes into town and cleans things up. Is there somewhere I could see a copy of this video or are there even any records that it existed? [more inside]
I've played Skyrim on a PS3 for a while now. I love it, but after hearing about all the mods you can do with the PC version, I was eager to buy the PC game. I've been trying to play it on my computer, but it's awful. [more inside]
About five (or more) years ago, I saw a hip hop video where both lyrics and video were medieval/renaissance faire themed. Featured some buxom ladies and possibly a horse mask. More humour than hip hop. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
I'm a member of a psychedelic rock band, and none of us are so good-looking or stage-charismatic that we'd want to be the primary thing people stare at. So we'd like to do the video-projection thing. But... we're not so into the classic hippie-melting-colors look, or the collage-of-spaceships-and-mushroom-clouds-and-wise-indians thing. What we'd really like, I think, is some simple geometric shapes, slowly morphing and transforming in hypnotic ways. Like a screensaver, only not lame. Any suggestions for the best way to do this? In the terminals of a few airports I've been to (CLT, BOS, maybe YYZ?), I have seen screens playing video advertisements on the walls of the terminals that don't look like the typical LCD or plasma TV. They seem to consist of four rectangles arranged 2x2, essentially forming one "screen", with a small gap between each panel. There is no "frame" around each panel like a normal TV - I just appears to be four screens by themselves. Also, the panels appeared unusually bright. The image did not appear to be projected from elsewhere. What are these devices called?
I used to use Canon Vixia HF M500 and upgraded to Canon HF G20. The video format is .mts. They open in VLC player and have interlacing lines through them. Why is the quality so bad? The M500 shoots in MPEG4 HD straight from the camera and had high quality large files. Can the G20 shoot in MPEG4 format? If not, what is the best setting to use when shooting? What is the best way to convert them on a Mac quickly while maintaining quality to upload? [more inside]
I'm hoping for a boost up the learning curve for recording and hosting/playback of PC screencasts. [more inside]

Yesterday, I started noticing that Windows is freezing for maybe a half-second every minute or so. Ordinarily it's not noticeable, but during videos or games it causes sound to catch for the duration ("...and so the solution to the pRRRRRRRoblem is..."), and sometimes video playback to glitch. Anyone have an idea what's going on? [more inside]
Vimeo is now removing any uploaded videos that contain any copyrighted music. Are there any services that have similar features to Vimeo, but don't do this? [more inside]
I need a free .mov to .avi video converter to work with old Adobe Premiere software. Every software I attempt to download gets a big malware warning from Webroot. Are there any free extensions or software available for this purpose?
I'm looking for more songs similar to M. Ward's "One Hundred Million Years" for a 20-minute baby photo/video compilation. I have found plenty of kids' songs and songs written about having children. I'm looking for more indie songs that echo the sentiment, "And this love, this love between you and I, Is older than that burning ball of fire up in the sky." Songs by indie singers about endless love, happiness, joy, the beauty of life, etc. would fit the bill. [more inside]
I'm interested in finding a site / YouTube channel / similar portal that shows only the "action" portion of sporting events. For example, a Youtube channel that would edit out all of the footage from NFL games, showing only the time when the clock was running. MLB has clips of key pitches/hits on their site (as does the NFL), but not the whole game from what I can find. Can anyone point me in the right direction of a full game trimmd down to only the "action"?
Hi, I'm headed out to CA over the weekend. I going to be in the Sacramento, San Jose, Fresno, and LA areas over the course of a week. I'm looking to shoot video for a piece I am doing about the drought. I was wondering if there are any locals that might suggest some places to look compelling images. Thanks!
Pretty specific reference from years ago. One of the first videos I downloaded off the Internet (1998-1999) was a J-Pop video from what my memory tells me was Ayumi Hamasaki, but my google fu can't seem to find anything to back that up. Just wanting to find the video again for nostalgia and to make for sure my brain isn't manufacturing memories :) [more inside]
I've got more than 40 family home videos on VHS tapes that I want to convert to digital on my Windows 7 PC. I realize that I'm probably overthinking this but I want to do a good job. My goal is to capture the VHS tapes at the best possible quality for posterity, and for online viewing and maybe DVDs, too. At the same time I don't want to chase after rapidly diminishing returns, as VHS quality isn't the best to begin with. My problem is that I don't know where to draw the line. [more inside]

AV experts, can you help me? I set up my current home entertainment system 11 years ago, and it's worked well for me. Now it is failing, and consumer electronics have moved on. I can't just replace the failing component with a new one because it is not being manufactured any longer, and I only need some parts of it. I'm having trouble integrating new things into the old setup. I need to upgrade/reconfigure my AV, and possibly wireless. Details inside. [more inside]
I'm trying out Captivate 8's new responsive designs and HTML5 output and am very annoyed with how smartphones handle the HTML5 video. For now, I'm setting up alternate, video-free content for the Mobile breakpoint. But the huge size of modern phones means that their landscape viewports are often as wide or wider than the portrait viewports of proper tablets. Is there any way I can set up alternate content based on a device being a phone (popping out video in its own player) versus a tablet (displaying video like a civilized device)? [more inside]
I'm trying to e-mail a couple of .mp4 videos to my girlfriend's LG G3 Android phone. The first one worked fine, but both of my attempts of the second video are apparently an "unsupported file type." I encoded the videos myself from QuickTime .mov source videos using Avidemux, and I'm at a loss as to why one works but the others don't. (technical info inside) [more inside]

What are the best Windows 7 applications for making a respectful slideshow for a funeral? I'm thinking there will be mostly pictures, but some video may be included as well. For now I'm thinking I won't be including music in the slideshow, but I'd still like to hear about software with music functionality as well.
I need to livestream a small-scale sporting event at the end of February 2015. I would probably like to continue livestreaming events for both business and personal stuff after that, so I am wondering about the best technology to invest in and system to use. [more inside]
" A year or two ago there was a funny music video lamenting the ridiculousness of the board game Mouse Trap from the 80s. I've got a long-running itch to play video games. They're insufficiently like work (relative to my other hobbies) that they're an appealing way to decompress, and I can do them when it's cold/wet/dark... but I am absolutely not motivated by the grind. Help me find something that will absolutely not require collecting all/some/the last/the only McGuffin(s). [more inside]

It was an upright arcade game, but played like a board game. You and some (allegedly) hyper intelligent extraterrestrial take turns placing tokens (colonies, energy nodes, whatever) on a series of boards that change from round to round. Tokens next to the token you place get 'flipped' to your color. There was console art depicting spacey aliens with pseudopods. [more inside]

So I have this DVD with accompanying copyright information, descriptive notes and disclaimers and I'd like to put it online so others can access it. The last time I did such a thing, I ripped it and converted to FLV and used JW Player. I could do that again but I wonder if that's what people at the end of 2014 would do. Are we in a post-flash world? Could I do something similar in a different format? (Even though I have some experience with this, please "explain like I'm 5.") [more inside]
I'm putting together a Halloween marathon party this weekend, with a few horror movies (about evenly split between good and cheesy selections), and lots of video interludes in between that speak to a sense of pre-2000 horror/VHS/halloween nostalgia.
