I have a four and a half minute video that a client wants to have in a format he can email as an attachment. What's the smallest, most broadly compatible video format I can use for this, and what software and settings should I use to convert it? [more inside]

I have a Mac Mini that I'm using as a media center running Plex. I want to be able to watch the media stored there (a couple terabytes of AVIs, MP4s, etc...) from anywhere I am, on a laptop or hopefully even on my iPhone. Is there any hardware/software solution that will help with this? [more inside]
