Freshly reinstalled Sony Vegas won't open the video edits I produced with it before

I recently had to reinstall Windows (XP) on my PC to kill some malware. Subsequently, I reinstalled Sony Vegas Movie Studio 9, which I've been using for the last couple of years on this machine. Today I went to open one of my video edits for the first time... but Vegas chokes on it. Can you help me figure out why? Error log after the jump. [more inside]

Android tablet video players that do playlists?

I have my eye on the Acer Iconia A500: it's a snazzy Android tablet at a nice price, with lots of connectivity. The micro HDMI port is a major selling point for me,because I want to use it for playback of video projections for my performances. But before I buy, I need to know that there's a good Android video player app out there that can 1) play videos from a playlist, and 2) transition seamlessly between videos. Any recommendations? Building a turntable for actors

How does one play back 2-channel video?

It's becoming increasingly common in the art world to see various forms of multi-channel video: works or installations in which video plays back on more than 1 screen at a time. If I wanted to create a 2-channel video piece, what technical means would be available to me to play back both video channels in sync with each other? [more inside]

BUY MORE POPCORN

Are subliminal messages illegal? I'm looking for citations, not vague impressions or urban legends (which so far is all I have to go on -- Google has not been helpful). I'm thinking of creating/commissioning a video project that will involve projection of subliminal images and/or words. The audience would be told that this was happening -- but not what the content of the messages was.
