When I stream video from almost any source, it gobbles up 100 percent of my CPU usage and becomes choppy and unwatchable. I've tried every trick in the book. Any suggestions?

What is the name of that 1980s home video introducing you to computers hosted by that famous TV personality husband and wife whose names I can't remember? The one whose background color changes depending on what section you're in?

Using a Mac, what would be one of the higher quality ways of taking a 1 minute digital video clip, converting that file so that the video is broken down into several hundred sequential still frames (high quality) and then finally printing those still frames (say each one being 3" x 3") so that I can make a flicker picture book from them? Free programs would be nice but willing to buy something if it means getting a superior result.

I'm looking for the simplest and cheapest way to set up a video camera at a temporary site that I can access on line. Is there a way to use one of those hotspot cards?
Usually we use a dvr system that has a static ip, forward the port within the router and then dynamic dns or something like that but I want to eliminate the need for the computer, router, and permanent connection.
Thanks!

I'm looking for a short film I saw in a computing class about 10 or 15 years ago. It was set in the "close future" demonstrating the use of computer technology by a disaster recovery team after an earthquake in California. Notably, all the computers and devices like printers were wireless.

how can I watch BBC's iPlayer in the US? A one-step solution is ideal, without having to install and configure a system-wide proxy (which is the current way I can think of doing it). Some software or plugin custom-setup for iPlayer?

It's becoming increasingly common in the art world to see various forms of multi-channel video: works or installations in which video plays back on more than 1 screen at a time. If I wanted to create a 2-channel video piece, what technical means would be available to me to play back both video channels in sync with each other?

I work on a Mac, and have suggested the Mac/iMovie/iDVD combination, but really don't know what to suggest for their platform of choice ...

While in the middle of doing my taxes the other day, my monitor went to displaying a weird character over and over over the entire screen. The computer wouldn't respond at all, so I shut it off manually via the power switch on the back. Since then, whenever I've attempted to start it up, the fans come on, the hard drive clicks a couple times, as usual, and then nothing. The fans keep whirring but there's no beep, no usual startup process, and nothing ever gets displayed to the monitor.

I want to watch TV on my laptop via wifi. Does anyone know how I can do this? For example, Toshiba's new Qosmio laptops come with a 'Wifi TV Router'. Does anyone else make a WiFi TV router? Or, alternatively, I have another computer with a TV card in it. What software could I install to stream the live TV signal from my server? I know there are streaming video products, but I don't know if any of them can also handle changing channels on a live TV stream. Any helpful suggestions appreciated. Thanks!

Video amongst both a PC and Mac: I would like to edit home (i?)movies in iMovie on my iBook. The original movies are on VHS tapes. I have a TV tuner card on my PC which I have used to record things from a VCR, which it saves as MPEG files. If I go this route, how do I convert them into something that iMovie can use? Is there a better route to go altogether?
