My kitty, Shoggoth, just had to have six teeth extracted due to FORLs, including
one of these fangs.
I'm curious about whether any Mefites who know about vet stuff can explain some of the mechanics of this to me.

I recently took my cat to an emergency vet over a weekend. I was initially pleased with the care he got, not so much afterwards, and was obviously expecting it to be a little pricey. Well, it certainly was, especially emotionally. (more on that inside) In a fit of emotion/rage I wrote them a letter expressing how upset I was with them and demanding some of my money back. So now... how do I follow up?

My springer spaniel gets recurrent ear infections. Three times in the past year, the vet has given him full anesthesia and cleaned out his ears, then given him a prescription for antibiotic ear drops for a week. Then the infection comes back a month or two later. Is there any other solution? Help.

Breaking out of my funk filter: I'd like to do some volunteer work on a regular but limited basis (say, a couple hours a week). I feel that writing is one of my skills, and in the past I've helped friends write really great resumes and cover letters, so I think this might be a good thing for me to focus on. I suppose helping with writing college essays might also work. I have an idea that I'd like to work with veterans specifically, although I'm open to different ideas. And I live in the SF Bay Area. So can you suggest organizations that I might work with - either in my ideal scenario of helping vets with resumes - or doing something else that would utilize my skills?

Could my dog have been saved? Did the vet drop the ball? Any vets or folks who have experience with canine Addison's disease, please help shed some light on this situation for me.

Can anyone recommend a good vet in the Chicago area? (Bonus points for a vet near Oak Park.) Our kitty is sick. :-(

NYCFilter: I don't like my veterinarian. I'd like to switch. Does anyone have any recommendations for vets in the city? I'm in East Williamsburg, and would prefer if said vets could be accessable via the L line.

Sick-Kitty-Filter. Has anyone here had success in switching a cat from their favorite dry food to a prescription canned food? Any tips would be greatly appreciated...more inside...
